Expression of Recombinant Human α-Glucosidase in HEK293 Cells

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
In mammals, intestinal α-glucosidase exists as a maltase-glucoamylase complex (MGAM) and a sucrase-isomaltase complex (SI). In this study, we transiently expressed human MGAM and SI in human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK293) cells. At pH 6.0 and 37 °C, the MGAM-expressing HEK293 cells extract (MGE) exhibited maltase, glucoamylase, and isomaltase activities

DIXDC1 co‐localizes and interacts with γ‐tubulin in HEK293 cells

Cell Biology International, 2009
AbstractDIXDC1 is a Dishevelled‐Axin (DIX) domain‐containing protein involved in neural development and Wnt signaling pathway. Besides the DIX domain, DIXDC1 also contains a coiled‐coil domain (MTH domain), which is a common feature of centrosomal proteins.

Dimethyl sulfoxide effects on hERG channels expressed in HEK293 cells

Journal of Pharmacological and Toxicological Methods, 2006
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is widely used as a solvent to facilitate formulation of test substances in cell perfusion solutions. However, DMSO concentration in bath (extracellular) solution is usually limited to 0.1-0.3% to avoid DMSO-induced changes in cell morphology and membrane properties due to elevation of osmolality. The purpose of this study was

The role of thiol reduction in hydroquinone-induced apoptosis in HEK293 cells

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 2003
Hydroquinone (HQ) is a chemical used as a reducing agent, antioxidant, polymerization inhibitor, and chemical intermediate. It has a minor use as a bleaching agent in dermatologic preparations. HQ also occurs as a main metabolite of benzene. In the present study, HQ-induced apoptosis was evaluated by cell morphology changes, determination of ...

Low-level arsenite induced gene expression in HEK293 cells

Toxicology, 2003
Chronic, low-level exposure to arsenic frequently results in skin, lung, bladder, and kidney cancer. Since arsenic is primarily excreted via the kidney, this study focused on this target tissue. Gene array was used as a sensitive low-level monitor of the impact of arsenic on this target tissue.

Application of HyperTRIBE to UPF1 in HEK293 cells

The application of HyperTRIBE technology to identify target genes of the RNA-binding protein UPF1 in HEK293 cells. This study includes five RNA-seq samples: two biological replicates of UPF1-ADAR2cd, two biological replicates of mCherry-ADAR2cd, and one GFP sample.

Optimising the transient expression of GABA(A) receptors in adherent HEK293 cells

Protein Expression and Purification, 2019
Owing to their therapeutic relevance, considerable efforts are devoted to the structural characterisation of membrane proteins. Such studies are limited by the availability of high quality protein due to the difficulty of overexpression in recombinant mammalian systems. We sought to systematically optimise multiple aspects in the process of transiently

Recombinant Production of Glycoengineered Mucins in HEK293-F Cells

Recombinant mucins are attractive polymeric building blocks for new biomaterials, biolubricants, and therapeutics. Advances in glycoengineered host cell systems now enable the recombinant production of mucins with tailored O-glycan side chains, offering new opportunities to tune the functionality of mucins and investigate the biology of specific O ...

Experiences with HEK293: A Human Cell Line.

PDA journal of pharmaceutical science and technology, 2016
The paper describes considerations taken with regard to a recombinant human cell line (HEK293) producing a therapeutic protein. When working with HEK293 cells, besides standard viral safety issues, special precautions should be taken because this cell line is susceptible to infection by numerous viruses.

High Throughput Transfection of HEK293 Cells for Transient Protein Production

2018
Transient transfection of mammalian cells is used in the biotechnology industry to quickly supply recombinant protein for research and large molecule drug development. Here, we describe a method for high throughput transient transfection of Human Embryonic Kidney 293 (HEK293) cells in 30 mL tubespins using polyethylenimine (PEI) as a transfection ...
