Pressure‐Induced Degradation Effects in Large‐Format Lithium‐Ion Pouch Cells

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study explores how external pressure alters electrochemical aging and thermal behavior in large‐format lithium‐ion pouch cells. Synchrotron X‐ray radiography reveals pressure‐induced inhomogeneous lithiation and structural changes. Moderate pressure improves lifetime and thermal management, demonstrating how mechanical constraints critically ...

The Reactive Extrusion Cationization of Starches as a Novel Physicochemical Surface Modification Method

open access: yesBiopolymers, Volume 117, Issue 3, May 2026.
Native starches from different botanical sources were cationized by reactive extrusion using 3% glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride (GTAC). The process, performed under controlled thermal zones, promoted the incorporation of quaternary ammonium groups onto the starch backbone.

Thickness Reduction Strategy for Graphite Composite Bipolar Plates: Materials, Structure, and Manufacturing Process

open access: yesCarbon Neutralization, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
Schematic diagram of challenges and advanced strategies by CBP after thickness reduction. ABSTRACT The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) converts clean hydrogen's chemical energy into electricity and is vital for carbon neutrality. However, its development is limited by low volumetric power density and high cost.

Effect of Oil Content on Lipid and Protein Oxidation and Structural Changes During Storage of Soy‐Based Extrudates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 128, Issue 5, May 2026.
The impact of storage on lipid and protein oxidation in soy‐based extrudates with varying oil contents was examined. Therefore, different oxidation markers were measured. In addition, the influence on the secondary structure and protein solubility was also investigated.

Anchorage System Contribution to Post‐Tensioned Bridge Collapse

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
This paper presents an experimental investigation of a 1960s precast post‐tensioned girder bridge in Trstena, Slovakia, revealing severe corrosion and anchorage degradation that ultimately led to its collapse. The findings highlight critical vulnerabilities in obsolete anchorage systems and emphasize the need for proactive assessment and maintenance of
