FEATURES OF CALCULATION OF UNEVEN SWELLING SCREW PILES OF OIL AND GAS PIPELINES IN FROZEN GROUND

open access: yesВестник СибАДИ, 2017
The article is devoted to the problem of buckling of helical piles and deformation of the superstructure of oil and gas pipelines under the action of forces of frost heaving of soils.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Energy transfer in Hall-MHD turbulence: cascades, backscatter, and dynamo action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Scale interactions in Hall MHD are studied using both the mean field theory derivation of transport coefficients, and direct numerical simulations in three space dimensions.

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Assessment of Experimental Data and Analytical Method of Helical Pile Capacity Under Tension and Compressive Loading in Dense Sand

open access: yesBuildings
This study presents the results of axial tension (uplift) and compression tests evaluating the capacity of helical piles installed in Shahriyar dense sand using the UTM apparatus. Thirteen pile load experiments involving single-, double-, or triple-helix

Revolving rivers in sandpiles: from continuous to intermittent flows

open access: yes, 2007
In a previous paper [Phys. Rev. Lett. 91, 014501 (2003)], the mechanism of "revolving rivers" for sandpile formation is reported: as a steady stream of dry sand is poured onto a horizontal surface, a pile forms which has a river of sand on one side owing

CHD pile performance, part II:Numerical modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, a set of simple modelling procedures are presented that can be used to estimate the load-settlement behaviour of Continuous Helical Displacement (CHD) piles in sands, in conjunction with the Finite Element Method (FEM).

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Numerical modelling of pullout of helical soil nail

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2017
An investigation into the pullout response of helical soil nail using finite element subroutine Plaxis 2D is presented. The numerical modelling of actual pullout response is achieved by axisymmetric and horizontal loading condition. The effect of varying
