Cellular memory and, hematopoietic stem cell aging

open access: yes, 2006
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) balance self-renewal and differentiation in order to sustain lifelong blood production and simultaneously maintain the HSC pool.

Targeting a Myeloid–Regulatory B Cell Network Reverses Immune Paralysis in Periprosthetic Joint Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Periprosthetic joint infection establishes a sophisticated immunosuppressive network between CXCR4+ PMN‐MDSCs and Bregs, inducing profound CD8+ T cell paralysis. Alendronate effectively disrupts this CXCR4+ PMN‐MDSC–Breg axis by targeting STAT3, thereby restoring local immune surveillance.

A neutrophil extracellular trap-related risk score predicts prognosis and characterizes the tumor microenvironment in multiple myeloma

open access: yesScientific Reports
Multiple myeloma (MM) is a distinguished hematologic malignancy, with existing studies elucidating its interaction with neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), which may potentially facilitate tumor growth. However, systematic investigations into the role

Human Urine Stem Cells Alleviate Pulmonary Fibrosis via Inhibiting Macrophage‐Myofibroblast Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Therapeutic role and mechanism of human urine stem cells (hUSCs) in pulmonary fibrosis. hUSCs alleviated pulmonary fibrosis by selectively inhibiting macrophage‐myofibroblast transition (MMT) in two ways: on one hand, hUSCs inhibited mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS) production and apoptosis/senescence of epithelial cells in pulmonary ...

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Intracellular Levels of Ca2+ to the Rescue! What Next?

open access: yes, 2019
Calcium ions (Ca2+), ubiquitous signaling and second messenger molecules, are communicators for the transmission of messages in numerous cell functions. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Luchsinger et al.

Beyond Potency: Emerging Determinants and Optimization Strategies Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy of Adult Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Adult stem cell therapy requires more than high in vitro potency. This review proposes a systems framework in which cell‐intrinsic programs, instructive microenvironmental cues, and pre‐/post‐delivery engineering are co‐designed under standardized translational rules.

CD177 Deficiency Defines a Stable Subtype of Human Neutrophil Granulocytes with Tumor Promoting Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human neutrophils exist as two epigenetically imprinted subtypes defined by stable CD177 expression or absence — a ratio that persists across time, circadian rhythms, and inflammation. CD177− neutrophils display a distinct molecular landscape enriched in arginase 1 and lipid metabolism markers, accumulate in head‐and‐neck tumors, and associate with ...
