Hemoadsorption contribution in neonatal cardiac surgery. [PDF]
BackgroundCardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in paediatric open-heart surgery is challenging, especially in neonates and aortic arch surgery. It induces a systemic inflammatory response that can lead to significant postoperative complications, including multiorgan dysfunction, prolonged mechanical ventilation, and intensive care unit (ICU) stay.

A highly efficient extracorporeal device for treating bacteremia is developed by integrating microfluidic bacterial margination and engineered cell‐depleted thrombi strategically constructed in the device. The rodent models, severely infected with antibiotic‐resistant bacteria, recover from bacteremia after two subsequent extracorporeal blood ...

Granulocyte and Monocyte Adsorption Therapy in Patients With Sepsis: A Feasibility Study
The median SOFA score decreased from 10 to 4 after 7 days. Decreased circulatory and renal SOFA scores were characteristic. Granulocytes, mainly neutrophils, were adsorbed, and the neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio significantly improved. The median APACHE II score was 27, and the 28‐day mortality rate was 7.8%.

Simultaneous Treatment of Two Severe Acute Intoxication and Acute Kidney Injury
ABSTRACT Extracorporeal therapies could be required for treatment of life‐threatening severe acute intoxication. We present the case of an 82‐year‐old patient admitted to our Nephrology Unit because of metformin‐associated lactic acidosis (MALA) and acute kidney injury (AKI stage III AKIN criteria).

Fatal Liver Failure After Herpes‐Simplex‐Virus‐2‐Induced Acute Necrotizing Hepatitis: A Case Report
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections are common in the European population, typically presenting with mucocutaneous and anogenital manifestations. However, disseminated infections and organ involvement are rare, usually occurring in immunocompromised individuals, particularly after hematopoietic stem cell or solid organ transplantation. HSV1/2‐induced

Study design and primary endpoint (serum bilirubin after 72 h) of the randomized controlled pilot trail CYTOHEP. Abstract Background To investigate the efficacy of bilirubin reduction by hemoadsorption with CytoSorb® in patients with acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (ACLF) receiving continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
