Study of the proliferative activity of hemolymph cells in pulmonate molluscs

open access: yesInvertebrate Survival Journal, 2020
Hemocytes, the cell of the hemolymph, play a key role in the immune response of pulmonate molluscs to various pathogens including trematode infection.

Image of hemocytes.

open access: yes, 2015
Hemocytes were classified as prohemocytes (A, A-1, and A-2), oenocytoids (B, B-1, and B-2), adipohemocytes (C, C-1, and C-2), spherulocytes (D, D-1, and D-2), plasmatocytes (E, E-1, and E-2), and granulocytes (F, F-1, and F-2) on the basis of their size ...

The Effects of Noise on the Juvenile Life Stage of Crustaceans: Behavioral, Cellular, and Molecular Responses in Procambarus clarkii

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Juvenile Procambarus clarkii exposed to noise exhibited behavioral changes, shifts in enzymatic activity, and altered expression of stress and immune genes. The findings highlight the sensitivity of invertebrate juveniles to anthropogenic acoustic pollution.

Laboratory Biology, Immature and Adult Morphology of Trichopria drosophilae (Perkins) (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae), Parasitoids of Drosophila Flies

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
This study investigates the laboratory biology and morphology of the parasitoid Trichopria drosophilae, which targets Drosophila flies, including the invasive Drosophila suzukii. Key findings include a detailed description of the parasitoid's egg, three larval instars, and pupal stage, as well as unique behaviors such as siblicide and encapsulation in ...

β-Thymosins and Hemocyte Homeostasis in a Crustacean

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013

Cellular immune response of Amblyomma sculptum and Amblyomma americanum to entomopathogenic fungi: Implications for biological tick control

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
Amblyomma sculptum showed a plasmatocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana increased plasmatocytes and reduced granulocytes, whereas Metarhizium robertsii did not cause significant changes. Amblyomma americanum showed a granulocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana reduced total haemocytes and granulocytes. B.

Blood feeding increases the proportion of hemocytes labeled by BrdU.

open access: yes, 2013
Phase-contrast (A), epiflorescent (B) and a phase-epifluorescent merged image (C) of A. aegypti hemocytes from a BF female collected 24 h pbm. The nuclei of actively cycling hemocytes that incorporated BrdU are labeled green, whereas the nuclei of ...

In vitro release of lectins by Phallusia mamillata hemocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
α-Lactose specific lectins are released from Phallusia mamillata hemocytes during short-term cultures. The molecular weight of the subunits, the immunological cross-reaction and the sugar specificity suggest that the released lectins are similar to those

Comparative analysis of immune responses in ovipositing and non‐ovipositing females of European earwig Analyse comparative de la réponse immunitaire avant et après la ponte chez le forficule européen

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, EarlyView.
Oviposition and care decrease the total haemocyte concentration. Oviposition and care affect haemocyte type proportions. Serratia marcescens challenge does not affect the immune cell parameters. Abstract Reproduction and immunity are essential biological processes that compete for resources and energy.
