Therapeutic potential of a Bax inhibitor‐1/TMBIM6 antagonist (BIA) and its analogues in Aspergillus fumigatus‐induced asthma via dual targeting of AKT and epithelial‐derived inflammatory cytokines

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 19, Page 5975-5991, October 2026.
Background and Purpose Aspergillus fumigatus (A. fumigatus) exposure causes of severe allergic asthma, characterized by airway inflammation and epithelial dysfunction. TMBIM6 (Bax inhibitor‐1) has been implicated in airway epithelial stress responses and AKT signalling.

Rethinking the Oligodendrocyte Progenitor Cell: One Cell, Many Functions

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 64, Issue 7, October 2026.
Oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) are increasingly recognised as multifunctional CNS cells rather than mere precursors of myelinating oligodendrocytes. Alongside myelination and remyelination, they contribute to myelin and circuit plasticity, circuit regulation, vascular and blood–brain barrier regulation and neuroimmune modulation.

Synergy Between Photon‐to‐Phonon Pathway and Active Lattice Oxygen Enables Efficient and Stable Syngas Synthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 40, 28 September 2026.
This work reports the design of a multifunctional MnOx support coupled with classic Rh catalytic centers for light‐driven dry reforming of methane. Benefiting from efficient photon‐to‐phonon conversion pathway and a dynamic OL‐OV cycle, the catalyst achieves high syngas production rates and light‐to‐chemical energy efficiency without external heating ...

Return of Research Results to Participants in Longitudinal Cohort Studies in Health Research: Findings From 24 Cohorts of the Amsterdam Cohort Hub

open access: yesHealth Expectations, Volume 29, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Returning research results to participants is increasingly recognised as part of participant‐centred health research. How this is implemented in longitudinal cohort studies is not yet well characterised. This study aims to provide a descriptive overview of current result return practices across diverse cohort studies in the ...
