Evaluation of Wedged Arterial Injection as a New Technique for Delivery of Experimental Therapeutic Sustances into the Porcine Pancreas

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Research, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Objectives. To prospectively evaluate the technical feasibility and efficacy of wedged arterial injection (WAI) as a potential route for experimental selective therapy to the pancreas of healthy pigs. Materials and Methods. Selective angiographies were completed in ten pigs under general anaesthesia.

Physiologic Responses to Infrarenal Aortic Cross‐Clamping during Laparoscopic or Conventional Vascular Surgery in Experimental Animal Model: Comparative Study

open access: yesAnesthesiology Research and Practice, Volume 2008, Issue 1, 2008., 2008
The aim of this study was to compare the hemodynamic and ventilatory effects of prolonged infrarenal aortic cross‐clamping in pigs undergoing either laparotomy or laparoscopy. 18 pigs were used for this study. Infrarenal aortic crossclamping was performed for 60 minutes in groups I (laparotomy, n = 6) and II (laparoscopy, n = 6). Group III (laparoscopy,

Comparative Evaluation of Follicular Flushing Frequency and Scraping Time During Ovum Pick‐Up in Mares: Effects on Oocyte Recovery Rate and Technical Considerations

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, Volume 61, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Transvaginal ultrasound‐guided follicular aspiration or ovum pick‐up (OPU) has become the standard technique for oocyte collection in mares for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Although repeated follicular flushes and wall scraping are commonly used to improve oocyte recovery rate (ORR), the relative contribution of each remains ...

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 19, Page 2718-2749, October 2025.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

Acute Supplementation of Beta‐Hydroxybutyrate Increases Visual Cortical Excitability in Humans: A Combined Electro‐EncephaloGraphy and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 62, Issue 7, October 2025.
Elevated plasma β‐hydroxybutyrate levels achieved by acute supplementation increased occipital glutamate (but not GABA+) levels and enhanced visual cortical excitability, as measured by larger steady‐state visual evoked potentials. The glutamate increase correlated with the increased steady‐state visual evoked potentials amplitude.

Comparison of Oocyte Collection Yield Between Conventional Follicle Scraping and Ultrasound‐Guided Follicle Aspiration in Postmortem Excised Horse Ovaries

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, Volume 60, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Post‐mortem oocyte collection serves to preserve the genetic material of valuable mares and to obtain recipient oocytes for cloning purposes. Therefore, the number of oocytes retrieved per ovary is a critical factor in increasing the likelihood of obtaining a viable embryo.
