Engineering Biology Beyond Single Genes: Advances and Challenges in Multiplex Genome Editing

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Multiplex genome editing is transforming genome engineering from single‐gene perturbation to network‐level control, yet its broader application remains limited by challenges in gRNA array engineering, delivery technologies, and safety management. Emerging AI‐driven approaches are accelerating guide RNA design and CRISPR effector optimization for ...

Liver cell transplantation -- novel animal model for human hepatic viral infections.

open access: yesCroatian medical journal, 2001
To generate a model of human hepatitis B infection (HBV) in immunocompetent rats with chimeric human liver.Normal rats were tolerized to human hepatocytes by exposure to human hepatocytes at day 17 of gestation. We transplanted human hepatocytes and inoculated HBV into the rats after birth.

N‐acetylcysteine for non‐paracetamol‐induced acute liver failure in children: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Non‐surgical treatment of acute liver failure (ALF) is primarily supportive and depends on the underlying cause. While N‐acetylcysteine (NAC) is proven effective in paracetamol‐induced ALF, its potential benefits in non‐paracetamol ALF for paediatric patients remain unclear.

New therapeutic options for metabolic‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
An increasing number of patients are being diagnosed with metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). MASLD results from disturbances in hepatic lipid metabolism and is associated with an increased risk of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma and significant extrahepatic morbidity, including cardiovascular disease and ...

Characterization and immunogenicity of nanoparticle vaccines displaying embecovirus spike proteins

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Virus‐like particle vaccines displaying spike proteins from OC43, HKU1 A, and HKU1 B were evaluated in mice for their ability to elicit antibodies against the spike proteins from OC43, HKU1 A, HKU1 B, and HKU1 C. Abstract Endemic human coronaviruses OC43 and HKU1 cause widespread respiratory infections and can be associated with severe illness in ...

Efectos protectores de la melatonina en un modelo animal de fallo hepático fulminante de etiología vírica = Protective effects of melatonin in an animal model of fulminant hepatic failure of viral origin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
