Hepatitis B e Antigen in the Absence of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1980Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) was detected by agar gel diffusion in the serum of four Ugandan adults (three patients with tropical splenomegaly syndrome and one healthy adult) who did not have detectable hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) by radioimmunoassay. Two of them had antibody to hepatitis B core antigen, and the other two had antibody to HBsAg.

The objective of this study was to determine factors associated with hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seroclearance after hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg) seroclearance. This is a cohort study of HBeAg-positive patients with HBeAg seroclearance. Factors associated with subsequent HBsAg seroclearance were examined.A total of 775 patients were included ...

Carbohydrates in Hepatitis B Antigen
Nature New Biology, 1973The association between hepatitis B antigen (HB antigen; SH or Australia antigen) and long incubation period or “serum” hepatitis is well established. But the significance of HB antigen in the pathogenesis of the disease and its relationship to the infective agent, remain uncertain.

The Liver and the Antigens of Hepatitis B
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1976A decade ago an antigen was identified by immunodiffusion and subsequently proved to be closely associated with hepatitis B virus. Further studies showed that hepatitis B virus circulates as a large particle containing a protein coat and a DNA core, and that excess coat particles are produced and circulate freely.
