The objective of this study was to determine factors associated with hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seroclearance after hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg) seroclearance. This is a cohort study of HBeAg-positive patients with HBeAg seroclearance. Factors associated with subsequent HBsAg seroclearance were examined.A total of 775 patients were included ...

Carbohydrates in Hepatitis B Antigen
Nature New Biology, 1973The association between hepatitis B antigen (HB antigen; SH or Australia antigen) and long incubation period or “serum” hepatitis is well established. But the significance of HB antigen in the pathogenesis of the disease and its relationship to the infective agent, remain uncertain.

Hepatitis B e Antigen in the Absence of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1980Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) was detected by agar gel diffusion in the serum of four Ugandan adults (three patients with tropical splenomegaly syndrome and one healthy adult) who did not have detectable hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) by radioimmunoassay. Two of them had antibody to hepatitis B core antigen, and the other two had antibody to HBsAg.

Hepatitis B surface antigen in late hepatitis B infection
Journal of Medical Virology, 2014Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels are used to evaluate and monitor clinical phases of chronic hepatitis B infection but their clinical significance is unclear in the late complications, cirrhosis of the liver and hepatocellular carcinoma. This study aimed to evaluate HBsAg levels across the whole natural history of hepatitis B virus infection,

Hepatitis B Antigen and Prevention of Post-Transfusion Hepatitis B
Vox Sanguinis, 1975Abstract. Screening for hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg) in the serum of blood donors and exclusion of antigen‐positive blood units have reduced the frequency of post‐transfusion hepatitis but several cases of hepatitis B still occur in association with transfusions. One explanation for this is probably that HBsAg is not an indicator of infectivity.

Hepatitis B core antigen in serum during acute hepatitis B
Journal of Medical Virology, 1988AbstractHepatitis B core antigen was measured in sera of patients with acute and chronic hepatitis B virus infection by a modified radioimmunoassay based on high molarity treatment of samples to avoid masking of antigen by homologous antibody. A good correlation between hepatitis B core antigen levels and serum HBV‐DNA was observed in sera obtained ...

Abstract Radioactive cores were prepared from concentrated Dane particles by DNA polymerase reaction followed by CsCl density gradient centrifugation. Two radioactive peaks were obtained: one peak with an average density of 1.36 g/cm3 in CsCl contained cores that possessed full serologic reactivity; the other peak, with a density of 1.28

Detection of virus antigens: Hepatitis B antigen
Metabolism, 1973Abstract Hepatitis B virus is the infectious agent that causes hepatitis of the long incubation variety and frequently is transmitted by blood transfusions. Hepatitis B antigen (HB Ag, Australia antigen) is an immunologic marker of hepatitis B virus and is found in serum of patients with acute hepatitis and in chronic carriers.

Hepatitis B e Antigen and Infectivity of Hepatitis B Virus
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1977For confirmation of the difference in the infectivity of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBS Ag)-positive serum according to differences in the e antigen system, four chimpanzees were inoculated with serum positive for hepatitis B e antigen (HBe Ag), and three chimpanzees were inoculated with serum positive for antibody to HBe Ag (anti-HBe).
