Blocking entry of hepatitis B and D viruses to hepatocytes as a novel immunotherapy for treating chronic infections [PDF]
Background. Chronic hepatitis B and D virus (HBV/HDV) infections can cause cancer. Current HBV therapy using nucleoside analogues (NAs) is life-long and reduces but does not eliminate the risk of cancer.

The hepatitis delta virus (HDV) is a subviral agent that utilizes the envelope proteins of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) for cell to cell propagation. In infected human hepatocytes, the HDV RNA genome can replicate and associate with multiple copies of the delta protein to assemble a ribonucleoprotein (RNP).

Constraint of Base Pairing on HDV Genome Evolution
The hepatitis delta virus is a single-stranded circular RNA virus, which is characterized by high self-complementarity. About 70% of the genome sequences can form base-pairs with internal nucleotides.

Hepatitis Delta Virus Diagnosis [PDF]
The first step in the diagnosis of hepatitis delta virus (HDV) infection is testing HBsAg-positive individuals for the antibody to the HD antigen (anti-HD).In anti-HD-positive patients, the next step is testing for HDV RNA in serum to determine whether the antibody reflects an ongoing active HDV infection (HDV-RNA-positive) or represents a serologic ...

Development of a minigenome cassette for Lettuce necrotic yellows virus: A first step in rescuing a plant cytorhabdovirus [PDF]
Rhabdoviruses are enveloped negative-sense RNA viruses that have numerous biotechnological applications. However, recovering plant rhabdoviruses from cDNA remains difficult due to technical difficulties such as the need for concurrent in planta ...

The NADPH oxidase NOX4 regulates redox and metabolic homeostasis preventing HCC progression
Loss of NOX4 in HCC tumor cells induces metabolic reprogramming in a Nrf2/MYC‐dependent manner to promote HCC progression. Abstract Background and Aims The NADPH oxidase NOX4 plays a tumor‐suppressor function in HCC. Silencing NOX4 confers higher proliferative and migratory capacity to HCC cells and increases their in vivo tumorigenic potential in ...

Chronic viral hepatitis D - the current state of a problem. [PDF]
Chronic hepatitis D- severe and rapidly progressing form of viral hepatitis, leading to the liver cirrhosis in 70% of cases within 5-10 years. HDV RNA replicates only in the presence of viral hepatitis B.
