Mask-guided Data Augmentation for Multiparametric MRI Generation with a Rare Hepatocellular Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Data augmentation is classically used to improve the overall performance of deep learning models. It is, however, challenging in the case of medical applications, and in particular for multiparametric datasets. For example, traditional geometric transformations used in several applications to generate synthetic images can modify in a non-realistic ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Hepatocellular Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesCold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Medicine, 2015
The hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a widespread human pathogen that causes liver inflammation, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Recent sequencing technologies have refined our knowledge of the genomic landscape and pathogenesis of HCC, but the mechanisms by which HBV exerts its oncogenic role remain controversial.

HNF-4α inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma cell proliferation through mir-122-adam17 pathway.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common human cancers, its prevalence and severity need us to discover novel early diagnostic biomarkers and new therapeutic strategies. MicroRNA-122 is the most abundant microRNA in the liver, and acts as

A Polarization and Radiomics Feature Fusion Network for the Classification of Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Classifying hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a critical step in treatment selection and prognosis evaluation for patients with liver diseases. Traditional histopathological diagnosis poses challenges in this context.

Bioengineering facets of the tumor microenvironment in 3D tumor models: insights into cellular, biophysical and biochemical interactions

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tumor microenvironment is a dynamic, multifaceted complex system of interdependent cellular, biochemical, and biophysical components. Three‐dimensional in vitro models of the tumor microenvironment enable a better understanding of these interactions and their impact on cancer progression and therapeutic resistance.

TRIM55 restricts the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma through ubiquitin-proteasome-mediated degradation of NF90

open access: yesCell Death Discovery
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a prevalent malignant tumor worldwide. Tripartite motif containing 55 (TRIM55), also known as muscle-specific ring finger 2 (Murf2), belongs to the TRIM protein family and serves as an E3 ligase.

METTL3 knockout accelerates hepatocarcinogenesis via inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress response

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Liver‐specific knockout of N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase METTL3 significantly accelerated hepatic tumor initiation under various oncogenic challenges, contrary to the previously reported oncogenic role of METTL3 in liver cancer cell lines or xenograft models. Mechanistically, METTL3 deficiency reduced m6A deposition on Manf transcripts and

Relationship between retinol metabolism and hepatocellular carcinoma: a comprehensive analysis of Mendelian randomization, prognostic characteristic and experiment

open access: yesDiscover Oncology
Purpose Retinol metabolism is intricately linked to the occurrence and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); however, the precise pathogenic relationship between them remains elusive. The aim of this study was to elucidate the characteristics of
