Prolyl-4-Hydroxylase 2 Potentially Contributes to Hepatocellular Carcinoma-Associated Erythrocytosis by Maintaining Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor-4α Expression

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2015
Background: Increased red blood cell count (Erythrocytosis) is an important paraneoplastic syndrome of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is a significant risk factor for lethal lung artery thromboembolism.

Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4α) knockdown stimulates pro‐mitogenic gene expression in hepatocytes

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2011
HNF4α, the master regulator of hepatocyte differentiation, has been recently shown to inhibit hepatocyte proliferation via yet to be identified mechanisms.

Strawberry Notch 1 Acts as a Transcriptional Regulator Driving Oncogenic Programs in Liver Carcinogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports that SBNO1 protein is upregulated in several cancer entities. SBNO1 protein interacts with the basal transcription factor TFIID via TAF4, enabling its recruitment to transcription start sites and the modulation of target gene expression.

Reversible Nuclear-Lipid-Droplet Morphology Induced by Oleic Acid: A Link to Cellular-Lipid Metabolism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Neutral lipidsÐinvolved in many cellular processesÐare stored as lipid droplets (LD), thosemainly cytosolic (cLD) along with a small nuclear population (nLD).

METTL1‐Mediated M7G tRNA Modification Promotes Residual Liver Regeneration After Hepatectomy via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
METTL1 and its mediated m7G tRNA modification are significantly up‐regulated after partial hepatectomy (PHx). Overexpression of METTL1 improves the efficiency of liver regeneration after PHx, increases the proliferation of hepatocytes, and accelerates the recovery of liver function.

GLP-1 RA and dual GIP/GLP-1 RA treatment in MODY: a descriptive case series

open access: yesBMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care
Introduction Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) and dual glucose insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP)/GLP-1 RA are widely prescribed, but their effectiveness in different subtypes of maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is unknown ...

The Snail repressor recruits EZH2 to specific genomic sites through the enrollment of the lncRNA HOTAIR in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The transcription factor Snail is a master regulator of cellular identity and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) directly repressing a broad repertoire of epithelial genes.

Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 4 alpha (HNF4α) Knockdown Stimulates Pro‐Mitogenic Gene Expression in Hepatocytes

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2012
HNF4α, the master regulator of hepatocyte differentiation, has been shown to inhibit hepatocyte proliferation via yet to be identified mechanisms. We investigated the mechanisms of HNF4α‐induced inhibition of hepatocyte proliferation using two novel HNF4α knockdown mouse models.

Expandable Nanocomposite Shape‐Memory Hemostat for the Treatment of Noncompressible Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanocomposite‐coated shape memory foam rapidly expands, accelerates clotting, and reduces blood loss in vivo. Its fast volumetric expansion and strong procoagulant activity make it a promising hemostat for treating deep, noncompressible hemorrhage.

Efficient Production of Hepatocyte-like Cells from Human-induced Pluripotent Stem Cells by Optimizing Growth Factors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Organ Transplantation Medicine, 2018
Background: Generating hepatocytes with complete liver functions is still a challenge and developing more functional hepatocytes is needed. Objective: To compare various differentiation factors and protocols and introducing a preferable protocol to ...
