Dietary N‐Acetylserotonin offers protection against Shewanella putrefaciens infection in Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Shewanella putrefaciens is an important bacterial pathogen that poses a serious threat to Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) aquaculture. However, the protective effects of N‐Acetylserotonin (NAS) against S. putrefaciens infection in E. sinensis remain unknown.

Proteomic Analysis of the Hepatopancreas of Chinese Mitten Crabs (Eriocheir sinensis) Fed With a Linoleic Acid or α-Linolenic Acid Diet

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
As representatives of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids, many studies have analyzed the use of soybean oil and linseed oil rich in linoleic acid (18:2n-6, LA) and α-linolenic acid (18:3n-3, LNA) as better substitutes for fish oil.

Integrated histopathological, physiological, biochemical, and molecular analysis of gill responses to acute salinity stress in red tilapia (Oreochromis spp.)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Growing freshwater scarcity in China is driving aquaculture interests toward saline‐tolerant fish species. Red tilapia (Oreochromis spp.) is a euryhaline species with strong osmoregulatory capacity, making it an ideal model for investigating stress‐induced physiological changes.

DISTRIBUIÇÃO DE ELEMENTOS TRAÇO EM TECIDOS DE Goniopsis cruentata (LATREILLE, 1803) CAPTURADOS NOS MANGUEZAIS DO SUL DA BAHIA - BRASIL E AVALIAÇÃO DO POTENCIAL DE RISCO NO CONSUMO

open access: yesQuímica Nova
The concentrations of trace metals Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Zn and V were measured in gills, muscle and hepatopancreas of G. cruentata caught from South of Bahia in order to assess the potential health risk by the consumption of mangrove crabs.

Dietary impact of shrimp diets containing a mixture of nucleotides, β‐glucan, and mannan oligosaccharides on the growth performance, innate immunity, gene expression, and histology

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract This experiment investigated the impact of Hilyses, a fermented Saccharomyces cerevisiae‐based supplement containing bioactive nucleotides, β‐glucans, and mannan oligosaccharides (MOS), on the performance and physiology of whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei (initial weight 4.47 ± 0.07 g).

Screening of antioxidant activity, antimicrobial properties, and chemical profiles of 31 plant species against Vibrio and Pseudomonas in the Ecuadorian shrimp industry

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Opportunistic pathogens represent a significant threat to shrimp aquaculture, as they can reduce productivity and cause substantial economic losses. Plant‐derived compounds have been investigated as potential alternatives for controlling bacterial infections associated with shrimp farming.

Removal of Cadmium from Scallop Hepatopancreas by Microbial Processes

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 1999
A microbial process for removing cadmium from a homogenate of hepatopancreas, a waste of scallop processing, was devised to use this waste for value-added protein resources. Microorganisms were screened on the basis of the ability to remove cadmium from a medium with the initial concentration of 10 mg/l of cadmium.

Synergistic Impacts of Co‐Exposure to Microplastics and Vibrio harveyi on the Immune and Stress Responses of the Big‐Belly Seahorse Hippocampus abdominalis

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, Volume 345, Issue 6, Page 554-567, July 2026.
Synergistic effects of microplastic and Vibrio harveyi co‐exposure on big‐belly seahorse (Hippocampus abdominalis). Seahorses were exposed to microplastics (50 beads/L of 0.2 μm SMP and 1.0 μm LMP) and injected with V. harveyi (1 × 103 CFU/mL).

Dynamic Effects of Vibrio tubiashii Infection on Pathology, Transcriptome, and Immunology in the Hepatopancreas of Ivory Shell (Babylonia areolata)

open access: yesBiology
Vibrio tubiashii infection has led to several Babylonia areolata pandemics on the southeast coast of China, yet the immune response of the ivory shell against V. tubiashii and the specific pathogen–host interaction remain unclear.
