Astrocytes Mediate Psychostimulant‐Induced Alterations of Spike‐Timing Dependent Synaptic Plasticity

open access: yesGlia, Volume 73, Issue 5, Page 1051-1067, May 2025.
Main Points Cocaine and amphetamine stimulates astrocytes and downregulates the GLT‐1. The dysfunction in GLT‐1 modify EPSP kinetics and modulate STDP, switching LTP to LTD in psychostimulant‐treated mice. These effects were restored by upregulation of GLT‐1.

Early parent‐child interaction and home environments of children exposed prenatally to opioids: A comparison of biological mothers and out‐of‐home caregivers

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 46, Issue 3, Page 343-358, May 2025.
Abstract Children born to mothers with opioid use disorder (OUD) are at increased risk of maltreatment and out‐of‐home care (OOHC) placement. This study examines the parent‐child interaction quality and home environments of 92 New Zealand children with prenatal opioid exposure (OE) and 106 non‐opioid‐exposed (NE) children.

Environmental life cycle of fentanyl: From the cradle to an unknown grave

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 54, Issue 3, Page 513-527, May/June 2025.
