Mechanisms of herpes simplex virus type 1 reactivation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1996
Primary cultures of trigeminal ganglion (TG) cells from herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) latently infected mice were used to study reactivation. Expression of HSV-1 latency-associated transcripts was noted in TG cell cultures. Infectious virus appeared in 75% of culture supernatants within 120 h after heat stress.

Natural infection with herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) induces humoral and T cell responses to the HSV-1 glycoprotein H:L complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The glycoproteins of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) are important targets for the immune system in the control of HSV-1 infections. The humoral and T cell responses to the glycoprotein (g)H(t(His)):gL complex of HSV-1 were ...

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1/Adeno-Associated Virus Hybrid Vectors [PDF]

open access: yesThe Open Virology Journal, 2010
Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) amplicons can accommodate foreign DNA of any size up to 150 kbp and, therefore, allow extensive combinations of genetic elements. Genomic sequences as well as cDNA, large transcriptional regulatory sequences for cell type-specific expression, multiple transgenes, and genetic elements from other viruses to create ...

Acute Cerebellitis Caused by Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2003
Cerebellar disorders due to herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection are rare and always associated with herpes simplex encephalitis. We report 2 cases of severe primary acute cerebellitis caused by HSV type 1 that were identified by nested polymerase chain reaction performed on cerebrospinal fluid samples.
