The strong enhancer element in the immediate early region of the human cytomegalovirus genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), a member of the herpesvirus group, was found to possess a strong transcription enhancer in the immediate early gene region. Co-transfection of enhancerless SV40 DNA with randomly fragmented HCMV DNA yielded two SV40-

ETIOLOGICAL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF CAPRINE HERPESVIRUS 1 ISOLATED IN BULGARIA

open access: yesArchives of Veterinary Medicine, 2009
From goat and bucks with genital disorders and abortions the attempts for isolation of caprine herpesvirus 1 (CHV 1) were carried out. For virus exaltation Dexametazone was used.

The Genome of Caprine Herpesvirus 1: Genome Structure and Relatedness to Bovine Herpesvirus 1

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1987
Caprine herpesvirus 1 (CapHV-1) DNA was examined by electron microscopy, restriction site mapping and homology studies with bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1) DNA. Although the restriction site maps differed significantly, we showed that the genome structures of CapHV-1 and BHV-1 were identical and that the DNAs shared a high degree of base sequence homology.

Prevalence of BoHV-1 seropositive and BVD virus positive bulls on Irish dairy farms and associations between bull purchase and herd status [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
peer-reviewedBackground BVD and IBR are contagious viral diseases highly prevalent in Irish cattle. Despite their significant reproductive and economic impact very little is known about the BVD and IBR status of stock bulls (a bull used ...

Synthesis and processing of bovine herpesvirus-1 glycoprotein H

open access: yesVirology, 1995
The translation product of the bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) gH gene was identified and characterized. Synthetic peptides were used to generate specific antisera and a glycoprotein of 108K was precipitated by one of the antisera. Cross-immunoprecipitations with monoclonal antibodies to BHV-1 glycoprotein gp108 and the anti-gH peptide antiserum ...

The extraordinary evolutionary history of the reticuloendotheliosis viruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The reticuloendotheliosis viruses (REVs) comprise several closely related amphotropic retroviruses isolated from birds. These viruses exhibit several highly unusual characteristics that have not so far been adequately explained, including their extremely

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 and Bovine Herpesvirus 1 Latency [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Microbiology Reviews, 2003
SUMMARYPrimary infection by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) can cause clinical symptoms in the peripheral and central nervous system, upper respiratory tract, and gastrointestinal tract. Recurrent ocular shedding leads to corneal scarring that can progress to vision loss.

Rapid, sensitive, and visible RPA-LFD assay for BoHV-1 and BoHV-5

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Bovine herpesvirus (BoHV) infection poses a significant threat to the healthy development of the cattle industry. BoHV-1 primarily causes infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, while BoHV-5 is associated with bovine necrotic meningoencephalitis.

Comparison of commercial ELISA kit with serum neutralization (SN) in diagnosis of BHV-1 infections in water buffalo (Buballous buballis) [PDF]

open access: yesĀsīb/shināsī-i Darmāngāhī-i Dāmpizishkī, 2015
In order to compare commercial ELISA kit with serum neutralization (SN) in diagnosis of BHV-1 infection, blood samples were taken from 150 (100 male, 50 female) slaughtered water buffalo (Buballous buballis) at Ahvaz abattoir.
