Superinfection Prevents Recombination of the Alphaherpesvirus Bovine Herpesvirus 1 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2004
ABSTRACTHomologous recombination between strains of the same alphaherpesvirus species occurs frequently both in vitro and in vivo. This process has been described between strains of herpes simplex virus type 1, herpes simplex virus type 2, pseudorabies virus, feline herpesvirus 1, varicella-zoster virus, and bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1).

Serological evaluation of bovine herpesvirus 1 and 5 in cattle-breeding systems on Colombia’s high plains

open access: yes, 2016
Objective. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of Bovine herpesvirus – 1 (BoHV- 1) and Bovine herpesvirus 5 (BoHV-5) neutralizing antibodies in herds on the Colombian high plains and their correlation with the level of cross-protection ...

Ensaio imunoenzimático comercial no diagnóstico sorológico das infecções por herpesvírus bovino 1 A commercial enzyme immune assay in serodiagnosis of bovine herpesvirus 1 infections

The Genome of Caprine Herpesvirus 1: Genome Structure and Relatedness to Bovine Herpesvirus 1

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1987
Caprine herpesvirus 1 (CapHV-1) DNA was examined by electron microscopy, restriction site mapping and homology studies with bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1) DNA. Although the restriction site maps differed significantly, we showed that the genome structures of CapHV-1 and BHV-1 were identical and that the DNAs shared a high degree of base sequence homology.

Dominant-Negative Proteins in Herpesviruses - From Assigning Gene Function to Intracellular Immunization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Investigating and assigning gene functions of herpesviruses is a process, which profits from consistent technical innovation. Cloning of bacterial artificial chromosomes encoding herpesvirus genomes permits nearly unlimited possibilities in the ...

Bovine Herpesvirus 1 Counteracts Immune Responses and Immune-Surveillance to Enhance Pathogenesis and Virus Transmission

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Infection of cattle by bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) can culminate in upper respiratory tract disorders, conjunctivitis, or genital disorders. Infection also consistently leads to transient immune-suppression. BoHV-1 is the number one infectious agent in

The demonstration of a herpesvirus, related to bovine herpesvirus 1, in reindeer with ulcerative and necrotizing lesions of the upper alimentary tract and nose

open access: yesRangifer, 1990
In 11 male reindeer, all esposed to transportation stress, signs of conjunctivitis and later on ulcerative and necrotizing lesions of the mucosa of the nostrils and mouth were recorded. Blood and secretions from the nose were sampled.

Interaction of VP8 with mRNAs of bovine herpesvirus-1

open access: yesVirus Research, 2015
The UL47 gene product, VP8, is one of the most abundant tegument proteins of bovine herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1). Deletion of VP8 leads to impaired growth in tissue culture, and VP8 is indispensable for BHV-1 replication in cattle. To elucidate the biological functions of VP8, we explored its interaction with mRNAs of immediate early (bICP0), early (gB, gD ...
