Primary replication and invasion of the bovine gammaherpesvirus BoHV-4 in the genital mucosae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4) is a gammaherpesvirus that is widespread in cattle. Ex vivo models with bovine genital tract mucosa explants were set up to study molecular/cellular BoHV-4-host interactions.

Global Transcriptomic Profiling of Bovine Endometrial Immune Response In Vitro. II. Effect of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus on the Endometrial Response to Lipopolysaccharide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Infection with noncytopathic bovine viral diarrhea virus (ncpBVDV) is associated with uterine disease and infertility. This study investigated the influence of ncpBVDV on immune functions of the bovine endometrium by testing the response to bacterial ...

Regulation of alphaherpesvirus infections by the ICP0 family of proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Immediate-early protein ICP0 of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is important for the regulation of lytic and latent viral infection. Like the related proteins expressed by other alphaherpesviruses, ICP0 has a zinc-stabilized RING finger domain that ...

Bovine recombinant interleukin-2 enhances resistance to bovine herpesvirus-1: Dose response trial

open access: yesKansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports, 1988
Twenty-five calves were allotted to five groups: controls that did not receive bovine recombinant interleukin-2 (rIL-2) and four groups that received 5 daily injections of rIL-2 at 11.4, 1.1,0.11, or 0.0 II ~g/Ib/day. On day 0 of the experiment, all calves received bovine herpesvirus-I (BHV-1) vaccine and the first of the 5 daily injections of bovine ...

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus oncoprotein K13 protects against B cell receptor induced growth arrest and apoptosis through NF-κB activation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) has been linked to the development of Kaposi's sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma and multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD). We have characterized the role of KSHV-encoded viral FLICE inhibitory protein K13

Detection of antibodies against bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) in dairy cattle with different prevalences of bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) in São Paulo State, Brazil/

Serum samples from three dairy farms classified as high (1, 78.6%), medium (2, 40.0%) and low (3, 1.6%) prevalence for bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) from São Paulo State, were collected to analyze the prevalence to the bovine respiratory syncytial ...

Outbreaks of bovine herpesvirus 2 infections in calves causing ear and facial skin lesions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, 2017
We describe 3 outbreaks of superficial dermatitis caused by bovine herpesvirus 2 (BoHV-2) in dairy breed calves. Clinically, all of the affected calves were 12–26 d of age, had alopecia and crusts on the face and ears, and were non-pruritic and afebrile.

RNF213 Is an Interferon‐Stimulated Gene That Targets Influenza A Virus NP and Activates MDA5 to Restrict Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNF213 is characterized as a dual‐functional antiviral effector. It directly mediates the degradation of the influenza A virus nucleoprotein (NP) while simultaneously activating the MDA5‐mediated innate immune signaling pathway. This coordinated response establishes a powerful host defense system against viral infection. ABSTRACT Influenza A virus (IAV)
