Location and Characterization of the Bovine Herpesvirus Type 2 Thymidine Kinase Gene

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1989
The precise genomic location and the nucleotide sequence of the bovine herpesvirus type 2 (bovine herpes mammillitis virus) thymidine kinase (TK) gene have been determined. The genomic location of the TK gene was found to be in a similar position to that of herpes simplex virus.

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

Bovine respiratory disease associated with Histophilus somni and bovine respiratory syncytial virus in a beef cattle feedlot from Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2017
Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is a complex multifactorial and multi-etiological disease entity that is responsible for the morbidity and mortality particularly in feedlot cattle from North America.

Pathogenic, Molecular, and Immunological Properties of a Virus Associated with Sea Turtle Fibropapillomatosis. Phase II : Viral Pathogenesis and Development of Diagnostic Assays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Research conducted under this RWO from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 2000 has provided important new information about the pathogenesis, virology, and immunology of marine turtle fibropapillomatosis. In particular, we have provided strong evidence for

Bovine Interleukins 2 and 4 Expressed in Recombinant Bovine Herpesvirus 1 are Biologically Active Secreted Glycoproteins

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1996
The open reading frames encoding bovine interleukin 2 (boIL-2) and bovine interleukin 4 (boIL-4) were integrated into the unique short segment of the genome of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1) and expressed under control of the murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) immediate-early 1 (ie1) enhancer-promoter element or the MCMV early 1 (e1) promoter.

Microglial reactivity and nodule formation are associated with Synaptodendritic damage in the brains of people with HIV‐1

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Despite effective ART, neurocognitive impairment persists in people with HIV. Brains from PWH present exacerbated microgliosis and formation of microglial nodules that are actively engaged in neuronal phagocytosis, resulting in neuronal injury and dendritic loss.

Epidemiological investigation into abortion in farmed red deer in New Zealand : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Veterinary Sciences at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Reproductive performance in rising two-year-old (R2) and mixed-aged (MA) adult hinds is suboptimal in farmed red deer in New Zealand due to failure to conceive, fetal loss, and perinatal and postnatal mortality.

Silent pressure: Unveiling spinal lymphoma in horses and its parallels to other species

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Though the nervous system is an uncommon location for lymphoma, the disease should remain a differential diagnosis in some cases of ataxia in equids. Diagnosis of lymphoma can be challenging, although a combination of cytology, histopathology and immunophenotyping can aid in definitive diagnosis and therefore more accurately guide treatment and

Evaluation of three commercial bovine ELISA kits for detection of antibodies against Alphaherpesviruses in reindeer (Rangifer tarandus tarandus)

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 2009
Background The genus Varicellovirus (family Herpesviridae subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae) includes a group of viruses genetically and antigenically related to bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) among which cervid herpesvirus 2 (CvHV-2) can be of importance in ...
