Herpesvirus-associated central nervous system diseases after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Herpesvirus infections of the central nervous system (CNS) are associated with encephalitis/myelitis and lymphoproliferative diseases in immunocompromised individuals.

Analysis of the genome of leporid herpesvirus 4

open access: yesVirology, 2012
The genome of a herpesvirus highly pathogenic to rabbits, leporid herpesvirus 4 (LHV-4), was analyzed using high-throughput DNA sequencing technology and primer walking. The assembled DNA sequences were further verified by restriction endonuclease digestion and Southern blot analyses.

First detection of herpesvirus and hemosporidians in the endangered Pyrenean Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus aquitanicus)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Pathogens affect wild bird populations worldwide, contributing to their decline. Considering the scarce health data regarding the endangered Pyrenean Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus aquitanicus), we molecularly surveyed selected pathogens (Newcastle ...

Investigations on bovine herpesvirus 4 infections in cattle in Bulgaria

open access: yesBulgarian Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 2023
Cattle infected with BHV 4 show respiratory symptoms, gastrointestinal and postnatal genital disorders. The virus is a cofactor of bacterial infections.

A single CD8+ T cell epitope sets the long-term latent load of a murid herpesvirus.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2008
The pathogenesis of persistent viral infections depends critically on long-term viral loads. Yet what determines these loads is largely unknown. Here, we show that a single CD8+ T cell epitope sets the long-term latent load of a lymphotropic gamma ...

E3 Ubiquitin Ligases in Gammaherpesviruses and HIV: A Review of Virus Adaptation and Exploitation

open access: yesViruses, 2023
For productive infection and replication to occur, viruses must control cellular machinery and counteract restriction factors and antiviral proteins.

Search for the genome of bovine herpesvirus types 1, 4 and 5 in bovine semen [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Veterinary Journal, 2013
Bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) causes respiratory and reproductive disorders in cattle. Recently, bovine herpesvirus type 5 (BoHV-5) and bovine herpesvirus type 4 (BoHV-4) have been identified to be associated with genital disease. In this study, the

An Outbreak of Equine Herpesvirus-4 in an Ecological Donkey Milk Farm in Romania

open access: yesVaccines, 2022
Equine herpesviruses are important pathogens causing significant economic loss in equine and asinine populations. EHV-1/4 strains are mainly associated with respiratory distress.

In vivo imaging of murid herpesvirus-4 infection

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2009
Luciferase-based imaging allows a global view of microbial pathogenesis. We applied this technique to gammaherpesvirus infection by inserting a luciferase expression cassette into the genome of murine herpesvirus-4 (MuHV-4). The recombinant virus strongly expressed luciferase in lytically infected cells without significant attenuation.
