Comparison of proteins of simian herpesvirus aotus type 2 and bovine herpesvirus type 4

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1991
Genomes of herpesvirus aotus type 2 (HVA-2) and bovine herpesvirus type 4 (BHV-4) have previously been shown to be closely similar. Moreover, preliminary serological data indicated that HVA-2 is antigenically related to BHV-4. To extend this study, structural components of four BHV-4 strains and HVA-2 were compared by SDS-PAGE, radioimmunoprecipitation

The Host Cell Factor Phosphatase‐2A Subunit PR130 Restricts Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular, genetic, virological, and biochemical analysis in combination with global proteome and phosphoproteome profiling and functional assays were applied to study the role of PR130 in the context of HSV‐1 replication. The observations reveal that host‐intrinsic mechanisms regulate HSV‐1 replication and highlight PR130 as a susceptibility factor of

A Humanized Anti‐gD Broadly Neutralizing Antibody Confers Complete Post‐Exposure Protection against Pseudorabies Virus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pseudorabies virus (PRV), an emerging zoonotic α‐herpesvirus, causes life‐threatening human encephalitis. We identified a broad‐spectrum neutralizing antibody 6F7 targeting PRV gD. It blocks gD‐Nectin‐1 binding and membrane fusion, inhibiting replication across all PRV variants, representing a promising candidate for anti‐PRV therapy.

p300 Degradation by the p53‐SIAH1 Axis Relieves TBK1 Acetylation to Enhance Innate Antiviral Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies p300 as the acetyltransferase that acetylates TBK1 and inhibits its phosphorylation. Activation of the p53‐SIAH1 axis by immune response downregulates p300 expression to sustain innate antiviral immunity. Conditional p300 knockout in alveolar epithelial cells in vivo promotes antiviral responses and suppresses virus replication ...

Late Cytomegalovirus Infections After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplant

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Graft versus host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis with posttransplant cyclophosphamide (ptCY) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) prophylaxis with letermovir have changed the clinical epidemiology of CMV infection. We studied the incidence, risk factors for, and outcomes of CMV infection after Day + 90 of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (alloHCT ...

Potential Secondary Pathogenic Role for Bovine Herpesvirus 4 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2005
ABSTRACT Bovine herpesvirus 4 (BoHV-4) is a gammaherpesvirus with no clear disease association. Previous studies have demonstrated that macrophages can harbor persistent BoHV-4. We found that the addition of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) to bovine macrophage cells persistently infected with BoHV-4 increases viral replication.

Porcine kidney xenotransplantation: From primate models to clinical reality

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In the face of a critical shortage of human donor kidneys for end‐stage renal disease patients, porcine kidney xenotransplantation has emerged as a viable solution. This field has navigated major hurdles, including immune rejection, physiological incompatibilities, potential biomechanical differences and the risk of cross‐species infection. To overcome
