Cloning of Bovine herpesvirus type 1 and type 5 as infectious bacterial artifical chromosomes
Background Bovine herpesviruses type 1 (BoHV1) and type 5 (BoHV5) are two closely related pathogens of cattle. The identity of the two viruses on the amino acid level averages 82%.

Isolation of bovine herpesvirus type 5 from the semen of a healthy bull in Australia.
Artificial insemination is widely used in the cattle industry and a major challenge is to ensure that semen is free of infectious agents. A healthy donor bull was tested for freedom from infectious agents.

Cytomegalovirus replicon-based regulation of gene expression in vitro and in vivo [PDF]
There is increasing evidence for a connection between DNA replication and the expression of adjacent genes. Therefore, this study addressed the question of whether a herpesvirus origin of replication can be used to activate or increase the expression of ...

R17 Drives Heparan Sulfate Clearance via Endolysosomal Trafficking
R17 is a viral protein that binds heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans and traffics them to the lysosome, leading to their degradation in a manner that does not require the presence of the cation‐independent mannose‐6‐phosphatre receptor. In BxPC3 pancreatic cancer cells, this loss in heparan sulfate results in the reduction of cell migration.

RNF213 is characterized as a dual‐functional antiviral effector. It directly mediates the degradation of the influenza A virus nucleoprotein (NP) while simultaneously activating the MDA5‐mediated innate immune signaling pathway. This coordinated response establishes a powerful host defense system against viral infection. ABSTRACT Influenza A virus (IAV)

This study performs pan‐viromic profiling of 14,529 samples from 5,710 domestic herbivores across five Chinese provinces, establishing the DhCN‐Virome (1,085,360 viral metagenomes). It reveals species/sample‐specific viromic signatures and cross‐species transmission dynamics, aiding unified disease control.

ABSTRACT Bovine leukemia virus (BLV), an oncogenic deltaretrovirus, establishes lifelong infection in cattle and induces enzootic bovine leukosis in a subset of animals following prolonged latency. Despite extensive evidence of immune dysregulation, stage‐specific transcriptional reprogramming of B cells, the primary viral reservoir remains ...
