Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Heterogeneous Systems Leveraging Fuzzy Control for Runtime Resource Management

open access: yes, 2019
As computing platforms increasingly embrace heterogeneity, runtime resource managers need to efficiently, dynamically, and robustly manage shared resources (e.g., cores, power budgets, memory bandwidth).

Digital-SMLM for precisely localizing emitters within the diffraction limit

open access: yesNanophotonics
Precisely pinpointing the positions of emitters within the diffraction limit is crucial for quantitative analysis or molecular mechanism investigation in biomedical research but has remained challenging unless exploiting single molecule localization ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Information Sources and their Importance to Prioritize Test Cases in the Heterogeneous Systems Context

open access: yes, 2014
Context: Testing techniques proposed in the literature rely on various sources of information for test case selection (e.g., require- ments, source code, system structure, etc.).

Revisiting the stability of spatially heterogeneous predator-prey systems under eutrophication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We employ partial integro-differential equations to model trophic interaction in a spatially extended heterogeneous environment. Compared to classical reaction–diffusion models, this framework allows us to more realistically describe the situation ...

High Sensitivity SERS Substrate with Femtosecond Laser-Printed Nanohole Arrays

open access: yesSensors
This article presents a novel method for fabricating repeatable and uniform surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates. The proposed method consists of two steps: (1) the fabrication of nanohole arrays using advanced femtosecond laser-induced ...

Evaluating scalability in heterogeneous systems

open access: yesThe Journal of Supercomputing, 2011
This paper presents a new expression for an isoefficiency function which can be applied both to homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. Using this new function, called H-isoefficiency, it is now possible to analyze the scalability of heterogeneous clusters.
