Capabilities in Heterogeneous Robot Systems

open access: yes, 2015
Heterogeneous robot systems are characterized by the robots' diversity, each contributing different capabilities that can be utilised to complete tasks. Such diversity does not only emerge from differences in hardware, but also from distinct robot software and algorithms.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Synthesising Energy-Efficient Embedded Systems with LOPOCOS

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper, we introduce the LOPOCOS (Low Power Co-synthesis) system, a prototype CAD tool for system level co-design. LOPOCOS targets the design of energy-efficient embedded systems, implemented as heterogeneous distributed architectures.

Mapping parallel programs to heterogeneous multi-core systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Heterogeneous computer systems are ubiquitous in all areas of computing, from mobile to high-performance computing. They promise to deliver increased performance at lower energy cost than purely homogeneous, CPU-based systems.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Effect of Sputtering Power and Post-Deposition Annealing on Thermoelectric Performance of Ag2Se Flexible Thin Films

open access: yesSolids
Ag2Se has attracted significant attention as a promising alternative to Bi2Te3 for near-room-temperature thermoelectric (TE) applications. In this study, flexible Ag2Se thin films were fabricated via magnetron sputtering under different sputtering power ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.
