Effects of organic, non organic fertilizers, and selected novel pesticides on survival of two Entomopathogenic nematodes [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
In this study, the effect of six macro fertilizers i.e. urea, ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate, NPK, NP & DAP, and three micro elements i.e. Zn, Mn, and Fe at different concentrations as well as eight novel pesticides, thiamethoxam, spinetoram ...

Quadratic regression lines fitted for Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and Steinernema carpocapsae in the presence of hosts.

open access: yes, 2015
Quadratic regression lines fitted for the mean number of Galleria mellonella baits infected by Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (Hb) and Steinernema carpocapsae (Sc) and mean percentage of IJs of the two species at a particular distance from the source ...

Compatibility of Entomopathogenic Nematodes with Chemical Insecticides for the Control of Drosophila suzukii (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

open access: yesPlants
The spotted-wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura) (Diptera: Drosophilidae), is a pest that reduces the productivity of small fruits. Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) and chemical insecticides can suppress this pest, but the compatibility of ...

Comparative dispersal and larvicidal activity of exotic and Azorean isolates of entomopathogenic nematodes against Popillia japonica (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2001
The Japanese beetle, Popillia japonica Newman, is an introduced pest on Terceira, one of nine islands in the Azorean Archipelago. Research conducted on Terceira indicates that entomopathogenic nematodes in the families Steinernematidae and ...

Isolation and Characterization of Photorhabdus Spp. (Enterobacteriaceae) Isolated From Heterorhabditis Bacteriophora in Kashere, Nigeria

open access: yes, 2021
Photorhabdus bacteria are symbiotically associated with the infective juveniles of entomopathogenic nematodes of the genus Heterorhabditis. These bacteria after infecting a susceptible host, produces a host of lethal toxins that killthe insect hosts ...

Effects of single and combined applications of entomopathogenic fungi and nematodes against Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier)

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
This study was carried out to investigate the insecticidal properties of Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora for their virulence against different larval instars of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier).

Cryopreservation of Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
A method for the cryopreservation of third-stage infective juveniles (IJ) of Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabiditis bacteriophora was developed. Cryoprotection was achieved by incubating the nematodes in 22% glycerol (S. carpocapsae) or 14% glycerol (H. bacteriophora) for 24 hours, followed by 70% methanol at 0 C for 10 minutes.

Interactions Between Arma chinensis and Entomopathogenic Nematodes for Biological Control of Tuta absoluta

open access: yesInsects
The tomato leafminer Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is a devastating invasive pest that threatens tomato production worldwide. Reliance on chemical insecticides raises sustainability concerns, highlighting the need for effective biological alternatives ...

The in vivo production of Heterorhabditis zealandica and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Thesis (MScAgric)--Stellenbosch University, 2012.ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The agricultural industry in South Africa is dominated by the use of insecticides. Producers rely heavily on chemicals that cause increased risk to health, the environment and ecology ...
