Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (Poinar) - the first member from Heterorhabditidae family in Slovenia

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2009
In August 2008, we examined 95 soil samples for the occurrence of entomopathogenic nematodes in eastern part of Slovenia. 11 samples from 9 different locations were positive to entomopathogenic nematodes, but to this time only sample D54 was analysed ...

Comparative Analysis of Xenorhabdus koppenhoeferi Gene Expression during Symbiotic Persistence in the Host Nematode. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Species of Xenorhabdus and Photorhabdus bacteria form mutualistic associations with Steinernema and Heterorhabditis nematodes, respectively and serve as model systems for studying microbe-animal symbioses. Here, we profiled gene expression of Xenorhabdus

Cryopreservation of Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
A method for the cryopreservation of third-stage infective juveniles (IJ) of Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabiditis bacteriophora was developed. Cryoprotection was achieved by incubating the nematodes in 22% glycerol (S. carpocapsae) or 14% glycerol (H. bacteriophora) for 24 hours, followed by 70% methanol at 0 C for 10 minutes.

Concentration of suspension and temperature as factors of pathogenicity of entomopathogenic nematodes for the control of granary weevil, Sitophilus granarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2005
Efficacy of four species of entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernema feltiae, S. carpocapsae, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, H. megidis) for the control of granary weevil adults (Sitophilus granarius) was tested under laboratory condition.

"Parasite-induced aposematism" protects entomopathogenic nematode parasites against invertebrate enemies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Aposematism is a well-known strategy in which prey defend themselves from predation by pairing defenses such as toxins, with warning signals that are often visually conspicuous color patterns.

Isolation and identification of entomopathogenic nematodes and their symbiotic bacteria from Kurdistan province in Iran

open access: yesJournal of Crop Protection, 2016
Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are commonly used as biological agents for control of insect pests. This study was carried out to identify EPNs, determine dominant and frequent species in Kurdistan province, Iran and characterize their symbiotic ...

Further Screening of Entomopathogenic Fungi and Nematodes as Control Agents for Drosophila suzukii

open access: yesInsects, 2016
Drosophila suzukii populations remain low in the UK. To date, there have been no reports of widespread damage. Previous research demonstrated that various species of entomopathogenic fungi and nematodes could potentially suppress D.
