Diagnostic Impact of Liver Biopsy Among Antinuclear Antibody Positive Individuals With Mild Liver Enzyme Elevation

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
In ANA‐positive patients with suspected autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), liver biopsy rarely altered therapeutic management when alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was below 101 U/L and cirrhosis was absent. These findings suggest that biopsy may be safely deferred in this low‐risk group.

Observer techniques for estimating the state-of-charge and state-of-health of VRLABs for hybrid electric vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The paper describes the application of observer-based state-estimation techniques for the real-time prediction of state-of-charge (SoC) and state-of-health (SoH) of lead-acid cells.

Efficacy of dolutegravir/lamivudine in adults with HIV‐1 and isolated reactive hepatitis B core antibody: Insights from Phase 3/3b study results

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives As two‐drug HIV‐1 antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens become standard, data gaps remain concerning their safety and efficacy among people with isolated reactive hepatitis B core antibodies (anti‐HBc). Here, we assessed the safety and efficacy of dolutegravir/lamivudine (DTG/3TC) versus three‐ or four‐drug regimens (3DRs/4DRs ...

Possible role for cell-surface carbohydrate-binding molecules in lymphocyte recirculation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
We are investigating the hypothesis that carbohydrate-binding molecules on the cell surface are involved in the recirculation of lymphocytes from the bloodstream into lymphoid organs.

The role of neutrophils in the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel diseases

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) encompasses a spectrum of chronic disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, with a potential bidirectional relationship with periodontitis. Neutrophils are key regulators of immune‐inflammatory responses and play a major role in both diseases.

Simulative Analysis of Power Conversion System for Hybrid Electric Vehicles Based on Dual Input Sources Including Charging From Solar Panel

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Engineering & Technology, 2020
Renewable energy sources are highly recommended in hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) applications. The power converters play an important role in hybrid electric vehicle system. The design of control system for such converters is discussed in the paper. The

Evidence of the Extrahepatic Replication of Hepatitis E Virus in Human Endometrial Stromal Cells

open access: yesPathogens, 2020
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is the most common cause of acute viral hepatitis worldwide. The tropism of HEV is not restricted to the liver, and the virus replicates in other organs. Not all the extrahepatic targets for HEV are identified.

Hepatitis E virus screening in Irish blood donors: Seven years of individual donation nucleic acid testing reveals a frequent blood donor infection—but what is the risk?

open access: yesTransfusion Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Screening blood donations for HEV RNA mitigates the risk of transfusion‐transmitted HEV infection (TT‐HEV), a recognised blood safety issue in Europe. This study reports the findings of government‐funded HEV RNA blood donation screening 2016–2022 and includes an estimate of residual risk. Method Donation samples were universally and
