Gas‐chromatographic determination of residual hexane in hexane‐extracted soybean flakes

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1965
AbstractA method was developed to determine residual hexane in hexane‐extracted soybean flakes by gasliquid chromatography (GLC). After residual hexane was extracted with pure isooctane, the quantity extracted was determined by GLC. Analyses were run on three different columns. Column efficiency was varied to obtain maximum speed and accuracy.

Ultrasonic studies of n-hexane-perfluoro n-hexane mixtures

Molecular Physics, 1980
Ultrasonic absorption and velocity measurements over the frequency range 1 to 10 MHz at 303 K on mixtures of n-hexane and perfluoro-n-hexane confirm the existence of a rotational isomeric relaxation in the perfluoro-compound, and give evidence of a structural relaxation in the liquid mixtures.

Hexanal inhalation affects cognition and anxiety-like behavior in mice

Zeitschrift für Naturforschung C - A Journal of Biosciences, 2020
Hexanal is a 6-carbon aldehyde that smells like green leaves and urine to mammals. However, its physiological effects remain unclear. In particular, the effects of hexanal inhalation on the central nervous system have not been clarified.

n‐Hexane Polyneuropathy†

Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, 1969
SummaryNinety‐three cases of intoxication polyneuropathy occured among household workers exposed to excess concentrations of the n‐hexane vapor over several months or more. The chief manifestation was polyneuropathy of glove‐and‐stocking type. According to the mode of involvement, they were classified into three groups: sensory polyneuropathy 53 cases,

Molecular properties of hexane

Journal of Modern Optics, 1999
The physical nature and properties of hexane as a laser dye solvent are discussed. Experimental facts and the dependence of the optical and electrical parameters on wavelength and temperature are provided. Additionally, high accurate calculations of more than twenty novel physical constants for hexane are given.

Nanosecond Breakdown in Hexane

IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1972
The electrical breakdown of hexane was investigated using nanosecond duration high-voltage pulses. An attempt was made to experimentally isolate the formative time lag contributions of the two major breakdown mechanisms: electron avalanche and streamer processes. The electrode area was kept constant at 2.85 cm2 throughout the study, and time resolution

Stereoselective Bioreduction of Hexan-2-one into (2S)-(+)-Hexan-2-ol [PDF]

open access: possibleRussian Journal of General Chemistry, 2018
A method for the synthesis of (2S)-(+)-hexan-2-ol, the precursor of a series of drugs, by the enantioselective bioreduction of the prochiral hexan-2-one is proposed. The use of various exogenous reducing agents (isopropanol, ethanol, and glucose) for increasing the yield of the target (2S)-(+)-hexan-2-ol and the enantioselectivity of the bioreduction ...
