The adenovirus hexon protein. The primary structure of the polypeptide and its correlation with the hexon gene.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1981
The primary structure of the adenovirus hexon polypeptide has been determined by amino acid sequence studies of peptides from all regions of the molecule combined with sequence analysis of selected areas of its gene. The sequence presented contains 966 unique amino acid residues.

Molecular mechanisms of the viral encoded chaperone 100K in capsid folding and assembly of adenovirus

open access: yesNature Communications
Adenovirus is an icosahedral, non-enveloped DNA virus that infects humans and other animals. The capsid of adenovirus is mainly assembled by the major capsid protein hexon.

RACK1 inhibits fowl adenovirus serotype 4 replication by targeting the viral protein Hexon for ubiquitin-proteasome degradation

open access: yesPoultry Science
Fowl adenovirus serotype 4 (FAdV-4), the most pathogenic member of the genus Aviadenovirus, within the family Adenoviridae, primarily induces hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrome (HHS), leading to high morbidity and mortality in chickens.

A Plasmodium Promiscuous T Cell Epitope Delivered within the Ad5 Hexon Protein Enhances the Protective Efficacy of a Protein Based Malaria Vaccine. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
A malaria vaccine is a public health priority. In order to produce an effective vaccine, a multistage approach targeting both the blood and the liver stage infection is desirable.

Control of poorly immunogenic tumors with systemic STING agonist‐loaded liposomes targeting cross‐presenting dendritic cells

open access: yesClinical &Translational Immunology, Volume 15, Issue 6, 2026.
WH‐peptide‐functionalised liposomes encapsulating STING or RIG‐I agonists target intra‐tumoral Clec9A+ cDC1 and pDC, triggering release of type 1 IFN, presentation of CD4 and CD8 endogenous tumor epitopes, expansion of CTL with help from CD4 T cells in spleen, and tumor cell killing.

Progress in Adenoviral Capsid-Display Vaccines

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2018
Adenoviral vectored vaccines against infectious diseases are currently in clinical trials due to their capacity to induce potent antigen-specific B- and T-cell immune responses. Heterologous prime-boost vaccination with adenoviral vector and, for example,

Computational and serologic analysis of novel and known viruses in species human adenovirus D in which serology and genomics do not correlate. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
In November of 2007 a human adenovirus (HAdV) was isolated from a bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) sample recovered from a biopsy of an AIDS patient who presented with fever, cough, tachycardia, and expiratory wheezes. To better understand the isolated virus,
