The oral yeast-lactobacillus relationship I. Nonutilization of hexosephosphates by an oral lactobacillus

Journal of the American Dental Association, 1959
The theory that there is a symbiotic relationship between an oral yeast and an oral lactobacillus as the result of a complementary effect of the enzyme systems of each is based on the premise that the high phosphatase activity of the yeast provides the lactobacillus component of the mixed culture with hexosephosphates.

A family of hexosephosphate mutases in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

European Journal of Biochemistry, 1994
The Saccharomyces cerevisiae PGM1 and PGM2 genes encoding two phosphoglucomutase isoenzymes have been isolated and sequenced. The drived protein sequences are closely related to one another and show distinct sequence similarities to the human and rabbit phosphoglucomutases, especially in the region supposed to constitute the active site.

Occurrence of Defective Hexosephosphate Isomerization in Human Erythrocytes and Leukocytes

New England Journal of Medicine, 1969
Abstract Deficient activity of erythrocyte and leukocyte glucosephosphate isomerase was found in three siblings with hereditary hemolytic anemia who were unrelated to the single patient previously ...

Chromosome Assignments in Man of the Genes for Two Hexosephosphate Isomerases

Science, 1973
Thirty-seven clones of somatic cell hybrids between human and mouse cells were examined for retention of human chromosomes and expression of human constitutive enzymes. Human glucosephosphate isomerase and chromosome F-19 were retained or lost concordantly, as were human mannosephosphate isomerase and chromosome C-7.

The Effect of Adrenaline on the Hexosephosphate Content of Vascular Smooth Muscle

Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1964
AbstractIn experiments on isolated vascular smooth muscle adrenaline at a concentration of 10–3caused a 2‐to 3‐fold increase in the content of glucose‐6‐phosphate, fructose‐6‐phosphate, fructose‐1–6‐diphosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate during isometric contraction 7 min after addition of the drug. This action of adrenaline was manifest both under

Distribution of glutamine hexosephosphate aminotransferase in rat tissues; changes with state of differentiation

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1973
Abstract The activity of glutamine hexosephosphate aminotransferase ( L -glutamine: D -fructose 6-phosphate aminotransferase, EC 2.6.1.16) was determined with an improved assay method in some three dozen rat tissues: adult, developing and neoplastic.

Digestion of Intraplastidic Hexosephosphate Isomerase by Trypsin in Preparations of Root Plastids

Journal of Plant Physiology, 1994
Summary The effect of tryptic digestion on hexosephosphate isomerase activity in pea root plastids and cytosol was investigated. Maintenance of organelle integrity conferred substantial protection from proteolysis when compared with broken organelles.

Relationship between catabolism of glycerol and metabolism of hexosephosphate derivatives by Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Journal of Bacteriology, 1978
The relationship between catabolism of glycerol and metabolism of hexosephosphate derivatives in Pseudomonas aeruginosa was studied by comparing the growth on glycerol and enzymatic constitution of strain PAO with these characteristics of glucose-catabolic mutants and revertants.

Effect of certain hexosephosphate esters on haemoglobin affinity for oxygen.

Physiologie (Bucarest), 1980
The present work is designed to establish the effect of some hexosephosphates esters on the deoxygenation capacity of haemoglobin. To this end the dissociation curves of oxyhaemoglobin in hemolysates of human erythrocyte have been determined in the presence of increasing concentrations of hexosephosphates (2.5; 5; 10 muM/g Hb).

[Some patterns of hexosephosphate metabolism in extracts of human blood platelets].

Voprosy meditsinskoi khimii, 1983
Glucose phosphate isomerase reaction was shown to be important in turnover of fructose-6-phosphate in extracts of human thrombocytes as a result of deterioration of glycolytic process. Effect of fructose-6-phosphate concentration on its consumption and on formation of glucose-6-phosphate was studied.
