Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Effect of strain state on the surface roughening for hydroforming of aluminum alloy tube based on cross-scale numerical modeling

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The complex deformation behavior would result in surface roughening such as orange peel defect during the hydroforming process of aluminum alloy tubular parts.

The Effect of High Pressure Processing on Antioxidant Activity of Irish Potato Cultivars

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
The effect of High Pressure Processing (HPP) on Irish potato cultivars’ antioxidant activity (AOA) was examined. High Pressure Processing at 600 MPa for 3 min was applied to two coloured (Rooster and Kerr’s Pink) and two white (Saxon and ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

High Pressure Processing of Ion Implanted GaN

open access: yes, 2020
It is well known that ion implantation is one of the basic tools for semiconductor device fabrication. The implantation process itself damages, however, the crystallographic lattice of the semiconductor.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Review on principles, effects, advantages and disadvantages of high pressure processing of food

open access: yes, 2020
High Pressure Processing (HPP) is an emerging process technique which makes food safer and extends its shelf life. Unlike most conventional heat treatments, it is a non-thermal preservation and pasteurization technique that causes little or no change in ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

High pressure processing of cheese: Lights, shadows and prospects

open access: yes, 2020
Under high pressure processing (HPP) treatment conditions commonly used in the food industry, most cheese-borne pathogenic bacteria and spoilage microorganisms are eliminated.
