Neutrino Scattering on Glass: NuSOnG

open access: yes, 2007
These proceedings describe the physics goals and initial design for a new experiment: NuSOnG -- Neutrino Scattering On Glass. The design will yield about two orders of magnitude higher statistics than previous high energy neutrino experiments, observed ...

High spatial resolution dosimetry for radiation oncology with “MagicPlates,” a new 976‐pixel monolithic silicon detector

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose We introduce the next generation of “MagicPlate” 2D monolithic pixelated semiconductor detectors – MagicPlate‐976 (MP976). It features a larger array area, higher spatial resolution, and does not require external triggering. We perform a comprehensive characterization for small‐field steep‐dose‐gradient dosimetry applications in ...

Muon Collider Physics at Very High Energies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Muon colliders might greatly extend the energy frontier of collider physics. One can contemplate circular colliders with center-of-mass energies in excess of 10 TeV. Some physics issues that might be relevant at such a machine are discussed.

The Duals of Fusion Frames for Experimental Data Transmission Coding of High Energy Physics

open access: yes, 2013
The experimental data transmission is an important part of high energy physics experiment. In this paper, we connect fusion frames with the experimental data transmission implement of high energy physics.

Feasibility study of skin dosimetry with TLD sheets for measuring the effect of 3D printed bolus in radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) sheet is a measurement device coated with manganese‐doped LiB3O5 in sheet form. The sheet is 0.2‐mm thick and flexible. Hence, it can fit and be installed on irregular surfaces. The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of measuring patient surface doses during radiation therapy using TLD sheets.

1/q^2 Corrections and Gauge/String Duality [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. D73 (2006) 107901, 2006
We make an estimate of the quadratic correction based on gauge/string duality. Like in QCD, it proves to be negative and proportional to the string tension.

The Strong and Weak Senses of Theory-Ladenness of Experimentation: Theory-Driven versus Exploratory Experiments in the History of High-Energy Particle Physics

open access: yesScience in Context, 2013
Argument In the theory-dominated view of scientific experimentation, all relations of theory and experiment are taken on a par; namely, that experiments are performed solely to ascertain the conclusions of scientific theories.

Experimental characterization of railgun-driven supersonic plasma jets motivated by high energy density physics applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We report experimental results on the parameters, structure, and evolution of high-Mach-number (M) argon plasma jets formed and launched by a pulsed-power-driven railgun.

Dose rate correction of a diode array for universal wedge field dosimetric verification

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To study the performance of MapCHECK 3 (MC3) in measuring universal wedge fields and propose a dose rate correction strategy to improve MC3 measurement accuracy. Materials and methods Universal wedge fields with different wedge angles and field sizes were measured at different depths using MC3.
