Safety assessment of high fructose corn syrup and fructose used as sweeteners in foods
Toxicology Mechanisms and MethodsHigh Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and Fructose (FR) are widely used sweeteners in many foods and beverages. This study aimed at investigating the cytotoxic effects of HFCS (5%–30%) and FR (62.5–2000 μg/mL) using MTT assay in Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma (

Sixty seconds on . . . high fructose corn syrup
BMJ, 2015Oh no. High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) has been demonised as the ingredient above all others that’s to blame for the epidemics of obesity and diabetes. Some people certainly think so. It’s got more fructose than is delivered by standard sugar once it hydrolyses (60% versus 50%), but the jury is still out on the relevance of this. There’s also a theory

High-speed chromatographic analysis of high-fructose corn syrup for process monitoring
Talanta, 1993High-speed chromatography is coupled with numerical methods for analyzing unresolved chromatograms and applied to a process analysis of high-fructose corn syrup. A column selection process is demonstrated where a minimum amount of resolution is sacrificed in order to decrease analysis time from over 5 min to 25 sec.

Supercapacitors from high fructose corn syrup-derived activated carbons
Materials Today Energy, 2018Abstract Hydrothermal processing and physical activation are used to prepare activated carbons from high fructose corn syrup. The activated carbons are present in spherical shape and possess a high surface area of 1473 m2 /g. Both the surface area and micropore fraction increase with the increase of the activation time.
