Impulse-driven surface breakdown data : a Weibull statistical analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Surface breakdown of oil-immersed solids chosen to insulate high-voltage, pulsed-power systems is a problem that can lead to catastrophic failure. Statistical analysis of the breakdown voltages, or times, associated with such liquid-solid interfaces can ...

Electron dynamics in high power impulse magnetron sputtering discharges

open access: yes, 2019
Electrons are the main energy carriers in HiPIMS discharges and their properties govern the ionization processes and thus the discharge properties. The properties of the electrons are described by the fundamental plasma parameters, such as the electron ...

Sky‐Directional Radiative Cooling Meta‐Films for Daylighting Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A geometry‐mediated microprism meta‐film enables transparent, sky‐directional radiative cooling for daylighting windows. By decoupling control of visible transmittance from mid‐infrared emissivity, ground‐emitted heat absorption is suppressed while skyward heat dissipation is enhanced.

Gradient‐Conductivity Architecture Enables Synchronous Enhancement of Sensitivity and Detection Range in Multifunctional All‐Paper Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gradient‐engineered all‐paper sensor is fabricated by integrating MXene and in situ grown AgNPs within hierarchical cellulose networks. The device breaks the sensitivity–detection range trade‐off through cascaded conductive pathways, enabling ultrahigh pressure sensitivity, humidity–pressure decoupled dual‐mode sensing, and outstanding EMI shielding,

Aerodynamic analysis of a 1.5 kW two-stage counter-rotating partial-admission impulse turbine for small-scale power system with a high expansion pressure ratio

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Partial-admission impulse turbine is suitable for small-scale power cycles with a high expansion pressure ratio (EPR) and a low mass flow rate. However, the exit velocity of a single-stage turbine is very high, leading to a large exit loss.

Assessment of adaptive properties of winter triticale cultivars by yield in the Middle Urals

open access: yesАграрная наука Евро-Северо-Востока
Triticale is a versatile crop with high yield potential but insufficient resistance to unfavourable growing conditions. Therefore, the combination of high yield, adaptability, plasticity, stability and stress resistance of varieties is of great ...

Development of advanced technology for high voltage transformer winding condition control based on probing impulse of nanosecond duration

open access: yes, 2018
The paper deals with the experimental research of the pulsed method of transformer winding control in comparison with FRA technology. A new approach to winding condition control technology is described. The proposed method is based on short (compared with a typical pulsed technology) probe pulse and front pulse durations.

Physics of high power impulse magnetron sputtering discharges

open access: yes, 2019
The most striking difference between HiPIMS and other magnetron sputtering discharges, in terms of the plasma process itself, lies in the high-power discharge pulses applied and the large discharge currents generated.
