Effect of Impulse Polarity on a New Grounding Device with Spike Rods (GDSR)

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The characterizations of grounding systems subjected to high impulse conditions are known to be dependent on the polarity, current to peak time and discharge time, as well as the electrical properties of the soil, and the grounding electrodes themselves.

Measuring method for partial discharges in a high voltage cable system subjected to impulse and superimposed voltage under laboratory conditions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2020
A partial discharge (PD) measuring system has been deployed in order to identify and measure PD in a high voltage (HV) cable joint under impulse and superimposed voltages under laboratory conditions. The challenge is to enable the detection of PD during the impulse conditions. The method of measurement has been investigated by introducing an artificial

Investigations on the Performance of a New Grounding Device with Spike Rods under High Magnitude Current Conditions

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
In many publications, the characteristics of practical earthing systems were investigated under conditions involving fast-impulse currents of different magnitudes by field measurements.

High power impulse magnetron sputtering under industrial conditions

open access: yes, 2011
In this thesis, the recent development step of magnetron sputtering, termed high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) has been studied. Compared to conventional magnetron sputtering HiPIMS provides a higher plasma density which can ionise the sputtered material.

Investigation of Spherical Electrode Grounding System Under High Impulse Conditions with Different Polarities

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract There have been many studies in the pasts, which showed that under high impulse conditions, soil ionization process around the electrode would occur, which results in lower resistance and lower transient voltage on the electrode.

Possibility of using RIT technology in the ground conditions of Vietnam [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
The article compares engineering and geological conditions in the coastal areas of Vietnam and Tunisia. A sufficiently high similarity of soil structure and their physical and mechanical properties was noted.

Impulse response and electric field computation of various rod electrodes

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2022
Ionisation process has been known to occur in soil, when earth electrodes are subjected under high impulse conditions. In this paper, experimental results on impulse response of various earth electrodes, namely a conventional copper rod electrode, and ...

High-latitude observations of impulse-driven ULF pulsations in the ionosphere and on the ground [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
International audienceWe report the simultaneous observation of 1.6?1.7 mHz pulsations in the ionospheric F-region with the CUTLASS bistatic HF radar and an HF Doppler sounder, on the ground with the IMAGE and SAMNET magnetometer arrays, and in the ...

Seasonal Influences on the Impulse Characteristics of Grounding Systems for Tropical Countries

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
One of the most important parameters of the performance of grounding systems is the soil resistivity. As generally known, the soil resistivity changes seasonally, hence the performance of grounding systems, at DC and under high impulse conditions.

High‐latitude ionospheric response to a sudden impulse event during northward IMF conditions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2000
A high‐density structure under northward interplanetary magnetic field BZ conditions is identified at the Wind and IMP 8 satellites, both in the solar wind on August 22, 1995. A compression of the magnetosphere is observed by the GOES 7 magnetometer within a few minutes of the pressure increase encountering the magnetopause.
