Acute Effects of Low vs. High Inertia During Flywheel Deadlifts with Equal Force Impulse on Vertical Jump Performance

open access: yesSensors
Background: Flywheel resistance training has gained popularity due to its ability to induce eccentric overload and improve strength and power. This study examined the acute effects of low- (0.025 kg·m2) versus high-inertia (0.10 kg·m2) flywheel deadlifts,

Helicopter noise research at the Langley V/STOL tunnel [PDF]

open access: yes
The noise generated from a 1/4-scale AH-1G helicopter configuration was investigated in the Langley V/STOL tunnel. Microphones were installed in positions scaled to those for which flight test data were available.

Direct Multi-grid Methods for Linear Systems with Harmonic Aliasing Patterns

open access: yes, 2009
Multi-level numerical methods that obtain the exact solution of a linear system are presented. The methods are devised by combining ideas from the full multi-grid algorithm and perfect reconstruction filters.

Blast characteristics of center-initiated cylindrical charge in high-altitude environments

open access: yesAIP Advances
The effects of different high-altitudes on the blast parameters—including peak overpressure and specific impulse—produced by a center-initiated cylindrical charge (CC) were simulated using the AUTODYN software and analyzed through dimensional analysis ...

BEHAVIOUR OF BACKFILL MATERIALS FOR ELECTRICAL GROUNDING SYSTEMS UNDER HIGH VOLTAGE CONDITIONS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2015
Backfill materials like Bentonite and cement are effective in lowering grounding resistance of electrodes for a considerable period. During lightning, switching impulses and earth fault occurrences in medium and high voltage networks, the grounding ...

MIRaGe: Multichannel Database Of Room Impulse Responses Measured On High-Resolution Cube-Shaped Grid In Multiple Acoustic Conditions

open access: yes, 2019
We introduce a database of multi-channel recordings performed in an acoustic lab with adjustable reverberation time. The recordings provide information about room impulse responses (RIR) for various positions of a loudspeaker. In particular, the main positions correspond to 4104 vertices of a cube-shaped dense grid within a 46x36x32 cm volume.

On the influence of artificially distorted images in firearm detection performance using deep learning [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ Computer Science
Detecting people carrying firearms in outdoor or indoor scenes usually identifies (or avoids) potentially dangerous situations. Nevertheless, the automatic detection of these weapons can be greatly affected by the scene conditions.
