High Internal Phase Emulsion Gels Stabilized by Natural Casein peptides

open access: yesJournal of Oleo Science, 2018
The surface and interfacial properties of casein-hydrolyzed peptides were evaluated using measurement of surface and interfacial tensions, surface viscosity, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and freeze-fracture transmission electron microscopy (FF-TEM).

Utilization of polysaccharide-based high internal phase emulsion for nutraceutical encapsulation: Enhancement of carotenoid loading capacity and stability

open access: yes, 2021
The main goal of the present work was to access the ability of high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) to encapsulate β-carotene. The carotenoid loading capacity of the HIPEs was around 20-fold higher when OSA-starch/chitosan complexes were used than when ...

Effective Penetration of the Oxidized Keratin‐Rebonding Materials Into Hair Shafts Based on Charge Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have developed a smart hair‐repair ingredient based on β‐carboxylic acid amide that undergoes negative‐to‐positive charge conversion under mildly acidic conditions. The initial negative charge facilitates deep penetration into the hair fiber, while the subsequent positive charge enables re‐bonding with sulfonate groups in damaged hair keratin.

Delivery of Multifunctional Microspheres via Intravesical Instillation for Bladder Carcinoma: Therapeutic Potential and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
PCTM microspheres were successfully synthesized using microfluidic and click chemistry techniques. In Vivo and in vitro experiments have shown that PCTM microspheres have obvious targeting, adhesion, membrane penetration and anti‐tumor properties for bladder tumors. The antitumor mechanism of PCTM microspheres is to indirectly induce S‐stage blockage of ...

From RNA to DNA: How Cargo Identity Reprograms Lipid Nanoparticle Architecture and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The evolution of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) spans from RNA‐LNPs, used in mRNA vaccines, to DNA‐LNPs, ideal for gene therapies. Emerging bionano architectures, decorated with DNA and plasma proteins, pave the way for advanced DNA‐based therapies that are more stable, targeted, and customizable.

Pressure drop characteristics of poly(high internal phase emulsion) monoliths

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography A, 2007
Today, monoliths are well-accepted chromatographic stationary phases due to several advantageous properties in comparison with conventional chromatographic supports. A number of different types of monoliths have already been described, among them recently a poly(high internal phase emulsion) (PolyHIPE) type of chromatographic monoliths.

Opinion: Gavage Administration of MXene as a Route‐Specific Alternative to Intravenous Injection into the Bloodstream of Laboratory Animals for Reducing Systemic Nanotoxicity Risks in Immunosuppression and Post‐Transplantation Models with Bile Acid Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Recent studies reported immunosuppressive properties of specific MXene nanomaterials. Their intravenous injection into the bloodstream of laboratory animals has been a common delivery method to suppress systemic inflammation and prevent transplant rejection.

Nano- and Microstructure of High-Internal Phase Emulsions Under Shear

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010
High-internal phase aqueous-in-oil emulsions of two surfactant concentrations were studied using small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) and simultaneous in situ rheology measurements. They contained a continuous oil phase with differing amounts of hexadecane and d-hexadecane (for contrast matching experiments), a deuteroaqueous phase almost saturated ...
