Stator grounding fault severity characterization and novel inverse-time protection method for large generators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The existing injection-type stator grounding protection schemes for large generators are configured to issue only an alarm signal under high transition resistance grounding fault conditions. Thus, the fault cannot be promptly cleared.

Fault section locating method and recovery strategy of pole-to-ground fault for medium voltage direct current (MVDC) distribution network

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
High-resistance clamping grounding is a common grounding mode of modular multilevel converter (MMC) based DC distribution network. Due to the current limiting function of grounding resistor, pole-to-ground fault can only cause limited steady-state fault ...

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

Voltage Correlation Based Single Pole-to-Ground Fault Detection of MMC-HVDC Transmission Line

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Through analysis of various fault voltage characteristics of modular multilevel converter high voltage direct current (MMC-HVDC) transmission system, it shows that the positive and negative voltage relationships of direct current transmission lines with ...

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Single-Pole High-Resistance Grounding Protection for DC Distribution Lines Based on Current Integral Quantity Correlation

open access: yesZhongguo dianli
When a single-pole high-resistance grounding fault occurs in a DC distribution system, the transient current amplitude is small and the fault characteristics are weak, making it hard for the existing protection methods to provide reliable protection for ...

Understanding the Effect of Resistance Temperature Detector Temperature Controllers on Microstructural Alignment in Magnetic Freeze Casting

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The effect of temperature controllers that are commonly used in freeze‐casting is investigated in this work. Temperature controllers are observed to generate a voltage in the slurry. Microstructural alignment and ultimate compressive strength data show this voltage to interfere with the ability to align the microstructure using magnetic fields ...

Fault phase selection of mine power supply system based on frequency distribution theory

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2017
In view of the problem of ineffective selection of asymmetric mine neutral point ungrounded system while high resistance grounding occurs, a fault phase selection of mine power supply system based on frequency distribution theory was proposed. Each phase
