A novel method for severe plastic deformation at high strain rate

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Severe plastic deformation (SPD) processing is defined as any method of forming under an extensive hydrostatic pressure that may be used to impart a very high strain to a bulk solid without any significant change in dimensions of the sample, producing ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Identification de lois de comportement représentatives des conditions d’usinage pour des alliages de titane à différentes teneurs alpha/beta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Determining a material constitutive law which is representative of the extreme conditions found in the cutting zone during machining operations is a very challenging problem. In this study, dynamic shear tests, which reproduce, as faithfully as possible,

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

High strain rate damage in porous andesite

open access: yes, 2022
International audienceDeformation rates at volcanoes vary enormously, potentially altering the way in which volcanic rock accommodates strain. However, relationships between deformation rate, damage patterns, and physical properties are poorly understood.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Materials for extreme dynamic loads

open access: yes, 2022
S.481-507In this paper emphasis is given to attempts to correlate manufacturing parameters and high-strain rate properties of metals and alloys. Investigations up to strain-rates have been performed mainly under tension, some also under compression or ...

Deformation and Ductile Fracture of a Low Alloy Steel under High Strain Rate Loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Ductile failure of metals always occurs after a specific amount of plastic deformation. Therefore, the investigation and characterization of the deformation behaviour is required to understand the damage process and to describe the failure by a suitable ...

High Strain Rate Deformation Behavior of Gradient Rolling AZ31 Alloys

open access: yesMetals
A dynamic impact test was performed on as-rolled AZ31 alloys with gradient microstructure under various strains. The microstructural evolution and mechanical properties were systematically investigated.

Shear failure of AA2024 and AA7175 under high strain rate loading

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In the context of the design of aeronautical structures regarding accidental events, we are here investigating and comparing the shear failure of two aluminum alloys, namely AA2024 and AA7175, under high strain rate loading.
