A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Limited Angle Torque Motors Having High Torque Density, Used in Accurate Drive Systems

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
A torque motor is a special electric motor that is able to develop the highest possible torque in a certain volume. A torque motor usually has a pancake configuration, and is directly jointed to a drive system (without a gear box). A limited angle torque

Analysis and Optimal Design of Hybrid Magnetic Circuit Reluctance Direct Drive Motor

open access: yesIEEE Access
Reluctance direct-drive motors have become a hot research topic in recent years due to their high torque density, therefore, this paper proposes a novel hybrid magnetic circuit reluctance direct drive motor (HMRM) to meet the requirements of high torque ...

Flux-Switching Permanent Magnet Machine with Phase-Group Concentrated-Coil Windings and Cogging Torque Reduction Technique

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
We herein propose a novel high-torque-density flux-switching permanent magnet machine (FSPMM) which adopted phase-group concentrated-coil (PGCC) winding and a cogging torque reduction technique. The PGCC winding was applied to increase the torque density.

A novel high torque density six‐phase axial‐flux permanent magnet synchronous motor with 60° phase‐belt toroidal winding configuration

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, 2022
The three‐phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (three‐phase PMSM) has gained much popularity in many applications due to its various advantages. In addition, due to the good fault tolerance, simple inverter circuit structure and high torque density ...

Transverse Flux Machine—A Review

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
For applications with high torque demand, gearboxes are commonly used to convert torque and speed in order to receive higher specific values for torque and power. This causes additional losses, cost, inaccuracies, effort, and noise.

Potential Vorticity Evolution of a Protoplanetary Disk with An Embedded Protoplanet

open access: yes, 2005
We present two-dimensional inviscid hydrodynamic simulations of a protoplanetary disk with an embedded planet, emphasizing the evolution of potential vorticity (the ratio of vorticity to density) and its dependence on numerical resolutions.

The Rayleigh–Taylor instability of two-dimensional high-density vortices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate the stability of variable-density two-dimensional isolated vortices in the frame of incompressible mixing under negligible gravity. The focus on a single vortex flow stands as a first step towards vortex interactions and turbulent mixing ...
