Development of Higher Order Stiffened Shell Element (HOST9) for the Static Analysis of Stiffened Laminated Plates

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering
A new higher order stiffened shell element (HOST9) is developed comprising of a 9 noded flat shell element and a 3 noded stiffener element for analysis of stiffened laminated plates. The shell element is a lagrangian element.

Forced-Perturbed Fractional Differential Equations of Higher Order: Asymptotic Properties of Non-Oscillatory Solutions

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This study investigates the asymptotic behavior of non-oscillatory solutions to forced-perturbed fractional differential equations with the Caputo fractional derivative.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Dynamic higher order expectations [PDF]

open access: yes
In models where privately informed agents interact, agents may need to form higher order expectations, i.e. expectations of other agents' expectations.

Pedagogical conservatism of university teachers [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия Саратовского университета. Новая серия: Акмеология образования. Психология развития
The relevance of the research is due to the need to implement the principle of cooperation and interaction of the subjects of the educational process, and to use the creative approach in the situation of modernizing higher education.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Canonical Higher-Order Kernels for Density Derivative Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes
In this note we present r th order kernel density derivative estimators using canonical higher-order kernels. These canonical rescalings uncouple the choice of kernel and scale factor. This approach is useful for selection of the order of the kernel in a

Pure higher-order effects in the portfolio choice model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper examines the effects of higher-order risk attitudes and statistical moments on the optimal allocation of risky assets within the standard portfolio choice model.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
