Band-Structure Effects in the Spin Relaxation of Conduction Electrons

open access: yes, 1998
Spin relaxation of conduction electrons in metals is significantly influenced by the Fermi surface topology. Electrons near Brillouin zone boundaries, special symmetry points, or accidental degeneracy lines have spin flip rates much higher than an ...

Composition and Resulting Band Alignment at the TiO2/InP Heterointerface: A Fundamental Study Combining Photoemission Spectroscopy and Theory

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The chemical composition and band alignment are systematically investigated at the TiO2/InP heterointerface. Thin TiO2 films are deposited by ALD on atomically ordered, P‐terminated p‐InP(100). By combining UPS, XPS, and ab initio molecular dynamics, the atomistic structure and electronic alignment are revealed.

Low‐Symmetry Weyl Semimetals: A Path to Ideal Topological States

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a theoretical framework for realizing ideal Weyl semimetals, where Weyl nodes are well‐isolated at the Fermi level. The approach is exemplified in the low‐symmetry material Cu2SnSe3, which exhibits tunable topological phases, current‐induced orbital magnetization, and a strong circular photogalvanic effect, making it a promising ...

A note on rectangular partially massless fields

open access: yes, 2018
We study a class of non-unitary so(2,d) representations (for even values of d), describing mixed-symmetry partially massless fields which constitute natural candidates for defining higher-spin singletons of higher order. It is shown that this class of so(

Wavelength‐Dependent Differential Amplification of Raman Scattering by Chiral Gold Nanorods for Multiplexed Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The SERS spectra of reporter molecules adsorbed on chiral gold nanorods depends on the handedness of circularly polarized light (CPL‐SERS). The bisignate plasmonic CD spectra of chiral nanorods provides wavelength‐dependent CPL‐SERS. Selective discrimination of chiral nanorod handedness and different Raman reporters allow highly sensitive codification ...

A Limited Symmetry Found by Comparing Calculated Magnetic Dipole Spin and Orbital Strengths in $^4\mbox{He}$

open access: yes, 1994
Allowing for $2$$\hbar \omega$ admixtures in $^4\mbox{He}$ we find that the summed magnetic dipole isovector orbital and spin strengths are equal. This indicates a symmetry which is associated with interchanging the labels of the spin with those of the ...

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Higher-Spin Symmetries and Deformed Schrödinger Algebra in Conformal Mechanics

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2018
The dynamical symmetries of 1+1-dimensional Matrix Partial Differential Equations with a Calogero potential (with/without the presence of an extra oscillatorial de Alfaro-Fubini-Furlan, DFF, term) are investigated. The first-order invariant differential operators induce several invariant algebras and superalgebras.

Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.

Bilinear Fronsdal currents in the AdS4 higher-spin theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We analyse higher-spin theory with general coupling constant η at the second order, focusing on the gauge non-invariant vertices Υ(ω, ω), Υ(Ω, ω, C) and Υ(ω, C), that are shown to generate nontrivial currents in the Fronsdal equations.
