An Improved Approximate-Bayesian Model-choice Method for Estimating Shared Evolutionary History [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
To understand biological diversification, it is important to account for large-scale processes that affect the evolutionary history of groups of co-distributed populations of organisms.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Diffusion tensor tractography in children with sensory processing disorder: Potentials for devising machine learning classifiers

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2019
The “sensory processing disorder” (SPD) refers to brain's inability to organize sensory input for appropriate use. In this study, we determined the diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) microstructural and connectivity correlates of SPD, and apply machine ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

On predictive probability matching priors

open access: yes, 2008
We revisit the question of priors that achieve approximate matching of Bayesian and frequentist predictive probabilities. Such priors may be thought of as providing frequentist calibration of Bayesian prediction or simply as devices for producing ...

Estimation of Inverse Weibull Distribution Under Type-I Hybrid Censoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The hybrid censoring is a mixture of Type I and Type II censoring schemes. This paper presents the statistical inferences of the Inverse Weibull distribution when the data are Type-I hybrid censored. First we consider the maximum likelihood estimators of

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Bayesian spectroscopy with designed prior probabilities for high-precision estimation of magnetic moments in X-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectra

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials: Methods
X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra are the difference spectra of X-ray absorption (XA) measured in magnetic materials with left and right circular polarizations ([Formula: see text]helicity) under a magnetic field.

Relação Beta-Funcional entre o P-value e a Medida de Evidência Bayesiana na Comparação de duas Populações Normais

open access: yesTrends in Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2006
[10] apresentou um procedimento para testar hipóteses precisas (hipóteses com medida de Lebesgue nula), que baseia-se no cálculo da probabilidade posterior da Região HPD (Highest Posterior Density) tangente ao conjunto que define a hipótese nula ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
