Chirality‐Driven Piezocatalysis in MOFs: Achieving Efficient Cocatalyst‐Free Hydrogen Evolution

We report a chirality‐driven post‐synthetic modification strategy that grafts chiral L‐histidine (L‐His) onto the Hf6 clusters of MOF‐808(Hf), which significantly boosts the piezoelectricity and charge transfer efficiency, thus significantly enhancing the piezocatalytic performance of MOF‐808(Hf).

Zuzalysin, a virulence metallopeptidase of the periodontal pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis, is secreted as a latent, flexible ≈95‐kDa monomer. Calcium triggers cysteine‐switch activation and hierarchical assembly into pentamers, bipentamers, tripentamers, and a ≈5.6‐MDa, ≈355‐Å dodecahedron. Structures at 1.8–3.6 Å reveal a virus‐sized catalytic cage

Should I Stay or Should I Go—Leveraging an Overlooked Feature of Click‐to‐Release Chemistry for Affinity Labeling

Click‐to‐release (C2R) chemistry is redirected from payload liberation toward ligand‐directed covalent protein labeling through a transient dihydropyridazine methide (DHP‐methide). This concept opens the way to dual‐functional systems combining covalent target engagement with controlled effector release.

A Conserved Isoleucine Gates the Diffusion of CO and O2 to the Active Site of NiFe CO‐Dehydrogenase

A combination of protein film electrochemistry and site‐directed mutagenesis shows that isoleucine 563 (numbering of Thermococcus sp. AM4) gates the arrival of both CO and O2 to the active site of the nickel‐iron CO dehydrogenases. Mutations at this position increase the resistance to O2 at the cost of a slower reaction with CO.
