The origin of the histidine decarboxylase in rat forestomach

Life Sciences, 1970
Abstract Histidine decarboxylase of rat glandular stomach was compared with that of the rat forestomach. The enzymes differ as to pH optimum, ease of solubility and cofactor requirement. The characteristics of the enzyme from the forestomach resemble those of histidine decarboxylase from bacteria normally found in this part of the rat stomach ...

Histidine decarboxylase: Isolation and molecular characteristics

Neurochemical Research, 1984
High levels of histidine decarboxylase activity were measured in rat basophilic leukemia cells grown in ascitic form in 4 week old WKY/N rats. The potent inhibition of this enzyme by brocresine and alpha-methylhistidine but not by alpha-methyl DOPA identified it as a specific histidine decarboxylase.
