Evaluation of Effects of Histochrome and Mexidol on Structural and Functional Characteristics of the Brain in Senescence-Accelerated OXYS Rats by Magnetic Resonance Imaging [PDF]
The effects of histochrome and mexidol on the morphology and function of the brain and behavior were studied in senescence-accelerated OXYS and Wistar rats. MRI showed that signs of neurodegenerative changes were present in OXYS rats at the age of 3 months and were pronounced at the age of 12 months.

Determination of plasma concentration of the cardioprotective preparation histochrome
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1996A method for measuring the plasma concentration of histochrome is described. Echinochrome, a naturally occurring polyhydroxynaphthoquinone with antioxidant and cardioprotective activities, is the active ingredient of histochrome. Plasma histochrome concentration is measured in patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Assessment of Nephroprotective Potential of Histochrome during Induced Arterial Hypertension
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2015Magnetic resonance tomography was employed to verify endothelial dysfunction of renal arteries in Wistar and OXYS rats under conditions of induced arterial hypertension. Angiography revealed changes in the size and form of renal arteries of hypertensive animals. In hypertensive rats, histochrome exerted a benevolent therapeutic effect in renal arteries:

Activation of P-450-Dependent Monooxygenases Modulates the Diuretic Effect of Histochrome in Rats
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2015We studied the role of the liver monooxygenase system in pharmacological activity of histochrome, a pharmaceutical form of echinochrome A. In experiments on rats, benzonal, an inductor of the monooxygenase system of phenobarbytal type, significantly potentiated the diuretic effect of histochrome.

The effects of histochrome on the severity of delayed effects of prenatal exposure to lead nitrate were studied in the rat brain. Exposure of pregnant rats to lead nitrate during activation of free radical oxidation reduced activity of NADH- and NADPH-dehydrogenases in cortical neurons of their 40-day-old progeny, reduced the number of neurons in a ...

Effects of Histochrome on P53 Expression in Mouse Red Bone Marrow Cells in a Model of Chronic Stress
Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal, 2014The clinical efficacy of the formulation Histochrome cannot be explained solely on the basis of its antioxidant properties. With the aim of identifying possible additional mechanisms of action of the medicinal substance (echinochrome A) in Histochrome, its effects on p53 expression were studied in bone marrow cells in SHK mice in a model of chronic ...
