From secretome analysis to immunology: chitosan induces major alterations in the activation of dendritic cells via a TLR4-dependent mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesMol Cell Proteomics 8, 6 (2009) 1252-64, 2009
Dendritic cells are known to be activated by a wide range of microbial products, leading to cytokine production and increased levels of membrane markers such as major histocompatibility complex class II molecules. Such activated dendritic cells possess the capacity to activate na\"ive T cells.

Combined Solid Organ Transplant and Transfusion-Associated Graft-Versus-Host Disease in a Lung Transplant Recipient: An Uncertain Culprit With Lethal Complications

open access: yesCase Reports in Transplantation
Although graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a common complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, it is rare after solid organ transplantation (SOT) or blood transfusion.

Learning a peptide-protein binding affinity predictor with kernel ridge regression [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics 2013, 14:82, 2012
We propose a specialized string kernel for small bio-molecules, peptides and pseudo-sequences of binding interfaces. The kernel incorporates physico-chemical properties of amino acids and elegantly generalize eight kernels, such as the Oligo, the Weighted Degree, the Blended Spectrum, and the Radial Basis Function.

COVID‐19 systematic screening of asymptomatic haematopoietic stem cell donors: Less if often more

open access: yeseJHaem, 2022
From COVID pandemic spread until now, many HSCT unrelated donor registries recommend as a precaution a systematic COVID‐19 testing for all donors during the precollection time. Literature is quite poor to support this systematic attitude.

Consensus Algorithm For Calculation Of Protein Binding Affinity Using Multiple Models [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advances in Biology February 2023, 2023
The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules, which bind peptides for presentation on the cell surface, play an important role in cell-mediated immunity. In light of developing databases and technologies over the years, significant progress has been made in research on peptide binding affinity calculation.

An Invertebrate Histocompatibility Complex [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 2004
Abstract We have developed defined genetic lines of the hydroid Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus and confirmed earlier results showing that allorecognition is controlled by a single chromosomal region within these lines. In a large backcross population, we detected recombinants that display a fusibility phenotype distinct from typical ...

HLA-DR/DQ eplet mismatch predicts de novo donor-specific antibody development in multi-ethnic Southeast Asian kidney transplant recipients on different immunosuppression regimens

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
Eplet mismatch has been recognized as a more precise strategy for determining HLA compatibility by analyzing donor-recipient HLA differences at the molecular level.

Haplotype-Based Analysis of KIR-Gene Profiles in a South European Population—Distribution of Standard and Variant Haplotypes, and Identification of Novel Recombinant Structures

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
Inhibitory Killer-cell Immunoglobulin-like Receptors (KIR) specific for HLA class I molecules enable human natural killer cells to monitor altered antigen presentation in pathogen-infected and tumor cells.
