A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

Transcriptomic Profiling of the Allorecognition Response to Grafting in the Demosponge Amphimedon queenslandica

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2017
Sponges, despite their simple body plan, discriminate between self and nonself with remarkable specificity. Sponge grafting experiments simulate the effects of natural self or nonself contact under laboratory conditions.

Lack of class I H-2 antigens in cells transformed by radiation leukemia virus is associated with methylation and rearrangement of H-2 DNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Transformation of murine thymocytes by radiation leukemia virus is associated with reduced expression of the class I antigens encoded in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and increased methylation and altered restriction enzyme patterns of MHC ...

Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

HLA-DR/DQ eplet mismatch predicts de novo donor-specific antibody development in multi-ethnic Southeast Asian kidney transplant recipients on different immunosuppression regimens

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
Eplet mismatch has been recognized as a more precise strategy for determining HLA compatibility by analyzing donor-recipient HLA differences at the molecular level.

Estudo da resposta tissular à endoprótese recoberta de jugular bovina em veia cava inferior de suínos Bovine jugular covered stent-graft implanted in swine inferior vena cava - a study of tissue response

open access: yesJornal Vascular Brasileiro, 2006

Induction of specific tolerance by intrathymic injection of recipient muscle cells transfected with donor class I major histocompatibility complex. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Induction of tolerance to allogeneic MHC antigens has been a goal in the field of transplantation because it would reduce or eliminate the need for generalized immunosuppression.

Histocompatibility

open access: yes
AbstractHuman leukocyte antigen (HLA) molecules are the most important histocompatibility antigens, due to their genetic polymorphism and their key role in peptide antigen presentation and T-cell alloreactivity. While full matching for the most relevant HLA loci had been regarded as a prerequisite for successful transplantation until recently, the ...

Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...

Cryptic MHC Polymorphism Revealed but Not Explained by Selection on the Class IIB Peptide-Binding Region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The immune genes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) are characterized by extraordinarily high levels of nucleotide and haplotype diversity. This variation is maintained by pathogen-mediated balancing selection that is operating on the peptide ...
