Presentation of an exogenous antigen by major histocompatibility complex class I molecules

European Journal of Immunology, 1994
AbstractCytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) generally recognize peptides derived from endogenously expressed proteins in association with nascent major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules. In contrast, peptides derived from exogenous proteins associate with MHC class II following endocytosis to an endosomal compartment.

Antigen Presentation by Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I-B Molecules

Annual Review of Immunology, 1994
Class I-b genes constitute the majority of MHC class I loci. These monomorphic or oligomorphic molecules have been described in many organisms; they are best characterized in the mouse, which contains a substantial number of potentially intact genes.

Effect of Temperature on the Expression of Major Histocompatibility Complex Class-I Antigens

Immunological Investigations, 1992
In the present study we investigated the effect of temperature on MHC class-I gene expression in BALB/C 3T3 cells incubated for 5 days at 34 degrees C, 37 degrees C and 39 degrees C. FACS analysis revealed no significant difference in the cell surface expression of any of the 3 major class-I antigens at 34 degrees C and 37 degrees C.

Presentation of Exogenous Antigen with Class I Major Histocompatibility Complex Molecules

Science, 1990
Soluble antigens (Ags) in the extracellular fluids are excluded from the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-restricted pathway of Ag presentation in most cells. However, an exogenous Ag can be internalized, processed, and presented in association with class I MHC molecules on specialized Ag-presenting cells (APCs).

ALLOSPECIFIC MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES RECOGNIZING RAT CLASS I AND CLASS II HISTOCOMPATIBILITY ANTIGENS

Transplantation, 1982
Rat-mouse hybridomas have been developed producing monoclonal antibodies which recognize rat major histocompatibility complex specificities. Splenic lymphocytes from a LEW (RT1l) rat alloimmunized against ACI (Rt1a) splenocytes were used for hybridoma production.

Are Medial Class I Histocompatibility Antigens Coming of Age?

1993
The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) encodes one to three classical class I, or class Ia, molecules. These are expressed in all tissues at relatively high levels, present endogenous minor histocompatibility antigens and foreign viral antigens on the cell surface, and are usually highly polymorphic.

Modulation of Class I and Class II Major Histocompatibility Complex Antigens in Gliomas

1987
The concept of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proposed by Gorer in 1937 (1) has been intensively developped in the last twenty years. Denoted H-2 in mice and HLA (Human Lymphocyte Locus A) in humans, it is a well defined locus on chromosome 17 in mice and on the short arm of chromosome 6 in humans.
